Golden State Warriors: The disgruntled Warriors are preparing for life without restricted free agent Gilbert Arenas. "Let's put it this way: We're not in an ideal situation,'' Warriors general manager Garry St. Jean said in the San Jose Mercury News. "We're not here to tell you that we know the answer today." Chances are, Arenas will take more money from a team that has more salary-cap space than the Warriors. Which leaves St. Jean the unenviable task of trying to replace Arenas with a limited budget and limited options. "I don't want to put the weight of the world on that draft pick," St. Jean said. "Take a hypothetical that Gilbert does leave: How many rookies come in and pick up where a guy like that left off? That answer is not going to be there next Thursday. That's how much respect I have for Gilbert and how bright I think his future is. Again, I'm hoping like heck it's with us."

Chicago Bulls: The Chicago Bulls will release more information today regarding the status of point guard Jay Williams, who was injured in a motorcycle crash Thursday night in Chicago. One source told the Chicago Tribune that his situation was "not good" noting a broken leg and additional injuries to the pelvic area. "I'm not worried about the team or what this does for our future," head coach Bill Cartwright said. "I'm just worried about Jay. I'm worried about the severity of his injury for his career. We just have to wait and see. Our thoughts are with him."

Milwaukee Bucks: Whether Michael Jordan wants to admit it or not, he is the subject of more and more Milwaukee Buck ownership rumors every day. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that the financial world is gearing up for a bid from his group estimated between $150 million (what most agree the franchise is worth) and $170 million (what current owner, Sen. Herb Kohl, wants to sell at). Another bidder, however, has stepped into the picture. "Put it in the paper," Chris Abele, a local philanthropist, told the Journal Sentinel. "I'm interested in being a part of this."

Boston Celtics: Beantown may not be big enough for both Danny Ainge and Chris Wallace so the latter just may fill that general manager opening in Portland if Ed Stefanski, of the New Jersey Nets, doesn't take it first. "I think Chris did a great job when he spoke with them,'' said his agent, Warren LeGarie, in the Boston Herald. "I think Chris set the bar, and others have been trying to jump to that level. I think at this point it's in the hands of the people making the decision, and certainly they have a mountain of information on (Wallace and Stefanski). It's clear they've done a tremendous amount of due diligence on both." John Carroll, an assistant with the Celtics last season, may also leave the team and join the Toronto Raptors coaching staff.

Pacers: The Pacers have exercised their option on point guard Jamison Brewer, keeping him under contract for next season."He's worth another look," GM Donnie Walsh said. "He's got athletic ability and he's improved in knowing how to run a team."He'll spend the summer shooting. If he can get a shot, then he can be a good player."
