The Kansas City Chiefs wasted no time adding talent to their receiving corps in Round 4 of the 2025 NFL draft, selecting Utah State Aggies wideout Jalen Royals with the No. 133 pick on Saturday afternoon.

Royals dealt with injuries during his tenure at Utah State, but was a supremely productive pass-catcher, tallying 126 receptions for 1914 yards and 21 touchdowns in his three-year stint with the Aggies.

After exclusively targeting defensive players on Day 2 of the draft, Kansas City's decision to add Royals came as a welcome surprise to Chiefs fans who were wondering when the team would add another receiver.

Take a look at what resident draftnik Sam ***** had to say about Royals after the Senior Bowl:

"Royals missed a chunk of the 2024 season with a foot injury, but his performance in Mobile solidified his third round draft stock. Royals is an explosive athlete who should run a low 4.3 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. He stacks corners operating in press man coverage and gashes two-high defenses over the middle of the field.

Royals needs to refine the technical elements of his game. His release package and hand usage against press coverage need work. Royals ran a limited route tree at Utah State and must adjust to fit a more traditional offensive structure. His athletic tools and work after the catch make him a nice outlet for schemed touches.
"

While it seems unlikely that Royals will play a significant role in Kansas City's offense as a rookie, he is a low-risk, high-reward prospect who should be able to develop into a valuable playmaker over the next few seasons.
