I though it was pretty funny that Amare averages

20ppg/9.5rpg in 34mpg on the road and only 17ppg/7.5rpg in 34mpg at home.

Of course Amare played in twice as many home games this year.

For January and Decemember Amare played only 8 games in which he averaged less than 6 rebounds per game. I blame that on his injury for the most part and as far as I know he rolled his ankle before the actualy injury already.

Otherwise it is pretty odd because Amare averaged 10rpg in the whole month of November.

That's why he averaged only 10/6 in 3 games in december.

However his season stats are already at 18/8/1/1/1.6 in 34mpg.

If he averaged roughly 25ppg 10rpg and 38mpg in the last 24 games his averages at the end of the season would be.

21ppg 9rpg

He would total more points in 55 games this season than 82 last season.
In order to improve his rebounds to 10 per game Amare would have to average 12.5 rebounds per game for the rest of the season. I don't think that is impossible but it needs the effort and work to do it.
Last game against the Lakers was a solid start to keep those rebound numbers up.

His offense is improving leaps and bounds from last year, even missing 30+ games!! With another offseason to work on his game, next year he could really move up into the upper tier of NBA players. Those numbers would really look sweet in the offseason. I bet he would trade some of those numbers for W's! :D

Someone suggested that Amare is more successful when White is in the lineup than when Jake is. This might be especially important in rebounding because White is vastly better at blocking out (opponents, the sun, everything :D )

Amare Post-Allstar
25.3ppg 9.8rpg 1.3apg 1.75bpg 47.3%FG in 37mpg

And no reason it will get any worse.

Estimated averages for next season
25+ppg 11rpg 2apg 2bpg 1+spg 50%FG

....................................Kevin Garnett..............Amare Stoudemire
Rookie season.............10ppg 6rpg....................13.5ppg 9rpg
Sophomore S...............17ppg 8rpg...................*~21ppg 9+rpg
Third season...............18ppg 9.6rpg 4apg...........xxxxxxxxxxx

*Estimated average to end the season; Garnett also had a strong 2nd half that elevated his averages to 17ppg.

Amare will be an allstar next season and top 3 PF, and top5 big man.

Duncan, Garnett, Shaq, Amare, Yao.

Not sure I would put Yao in the top. Unless Houstan trades away Frances or get the O going though Yao.

yea but slin malone went to a single high school, and then to college before coming into the nba. at the rate that amare is moving up i think that he is very likely that he will pass malone. the only thing that might slow him down is that he doesnt have stockton feeding him. but at least amare shots free throw much better then malone did at this point.

Yeah, its actually amazing to see the improvement in his free throw shooting. It's not mentioned much..

That's because everytime they mention it, he misses. :D

I didn't see Malone until after he was already a superstar. By that point, Karl was so strong he could back almost anyone down in the paint and then hit that short fall away jumper. He was very good at passing out of the double team and played extremely solid defense. Amare has the ability and the ego to get there, but he will have to work very very hard to get close to what Malone could do.

Karl Malone 27.7ppg 12rpg 39mpg you think he'll do better than that?

What do you expect him to do 32 and 15 average? I would be very happy with 27.7 12

No, he is slightly worse than Malone in the first 2 seasons.

I think he could do 26/11/2/1/2 next season if he continues to work and gets the ball as much as he should regardless of who is on the team.

I would not expect Amare to get those scoring numbers even if he had the same skills. The Jazz offense was built around Karl in a way that is unreasonable with the offense the Suns run.

Amare has an explosiveness around the basket that Malone never had. Malone also played with one of the best point guards ever.

The most amazing thing about Malone is his longevity and health, despite his recent injury. I think Amare has already missed more games than Malone had his whole career untill this season.

I think Amare could accomplish similar scoring and rebounding numbers or better.

So far Amare is holding up the points effort. He needs to move on the rebounds, I think. So far, so good!! :)

Amare Stoudemire seems to be improving on defense and on the boards. He is averaging over 8 rebounds per game. That's not great, but it's pretty good considering he is playing alongside the best rebounding small forward in the NBA. He's also averaging over 2 blocks per game in February.

That's because he had one superhuman game in the month of February.

Amare has been a good shot blocker from the start of his career -- as long as he is in position to do something. I think he is out of position too much to block shots and rebound like he is capable of.
