The second-day sleepers will make major impacts at positions such as safety, linebacker and even defensive tackle. But the days of finding the sleepers at left tackle, defensive end, quarterback, wide receiver and cornerback are fading.
I've been saying that for the last 4 years. It is also why I thought that taking a safety high in the first round was a waste. IMO if you have a pick early in the first round, you need to land the best remaining left tackle, defensive end, quarterback, wide receiver or cornerback. I would even throw in Defensive tackle and running back if they are truely special.
It all comes down to managing the Cap. If you draft one of those lesser positions early in the first round, you are wasting cap money on a position that could have been easily addressed later in the draft or in Free Agency for much cheaper.
Hopefully the Cardinals will be drafting in the later part of the first round from now on. That way they can concentrate on pretty much any position and not have to worry about the cap implications.
