http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/michael_silver/05/10/ncaa.bush/index.html

The author implies that there are new developments being uncovered that make it appear more likely Bush and or USC may face some actual punishment for the Michaels stuff that allegedly went on.

Among other things he says Bush and Michaels recently reached an out of court settlement that among other things required Michaels to promise NOT to speak with NCAA investigators.

Interesting article.

USC will go untouched in all of this. No matter what they find, there is no way USC knew anything about it or could have known anything about it. It was a business arrangement of outside parties, just like Kenny Stabler getting a corvette his senior year at Alabama based on his future NFL earnings.

The laughable part is with the mention that Bush paid for the silence of Michaels and will do the same with Lake. I believe that is step one in an ongoing extortion. The first payment isn't the last. The gift that keeps on giving.

I was thinking the exact same thing. It's only rumor there's such a provision in the contract. No one really knows. It could be a "wink wink" kind of deal, as you said, paid in "installments."

Of course, Reggie's a football player, not bazillionaire. There's a limit to how much cash he can throw at this to make it go away.

Well I have no doubt these guys are to an extent extorting money from Bush,
but that doesn't mean Bush, or more to the point his stepfather, didn't take money from them in violation of NCAA rules.

Oh, for sure, or there wouldn't be any basis for the payoff.

Yeah, really important to investigate a guy who is in his second year in the NFL instead of investigating college athletes.

I think that there's more than enough precedent, they nailed Michigan for the fab 5 years later.

I agree it would be better to nail them for violations they commit now(Joe McKnight) but NCAA investigations take a long time, it's not all that uncommon for the kid to be gone by the time the school gets nailed.

That hardly ever happens. The process takes time. If time was the only factor, nothing would ever come to light. They started this investigation while he was still in school. He and his family have been ducking andstonewalling the whole time, hoping it would go away.

And now for the really important Reggie Bush news, he's now dating.

Kim Kardashian. Apparently Paris Hilton and our own Matt Leinart helped fix them up. Hopefully this time an ex USC RB connects with a Kardashian things turn out a bit better.

Man she's hot.
