Curtis Jones was a pivotal part of Iowa State basketball's 2024-25 season, and his efforts were recognized on Tuesday when the Associated Press named him an Honorable Mention All-American.
Jones took a major step forward in his second season with the Cyclones and fourth college campaign overall, increasing his scoring average from 11.0 points per game in 2023-24 to 17.1 this year.
He did so despite continuing to come off the bench for most of the season, starting just nine of his 32 games.
Arguably the best game of Jones' season came in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal vs. BYU, when his 22 first-half points and 31 overall, including seven triples, kept the short-handed Cyclones afloat before falling 96-92.
Without starting guard Keshon Gilbert for the remainder of the postseason, Jones' scoring and ball-handling skills will be a major X-factor in how far Iowa State can go.
Before transferring to Iowa State in 2023, Jones spent the first two seasons of his college career at Buffalo. He averaged 15.0 points and 3.0 assists per game as a sophomore in 2022-23, securing All-MAC Third Team honors.
