1. Series with Michigan extended (20 years, I think)
2. Home and away with Oklahoma (2012, 2013?
3. Discussing a home and away with ASU! Should be finalized soon. This is a replacement for the Michigan State series, which Irish wish to drop - too many big 10 games - and Big 10 commissioner wants fewer games with Notre Dame.

He's just pissed that Notre Dame refuses to join their conference. Notre Dame just doesn't want to share the $$$. I wouldn't either, if I were them.

Big 10 shouldn't be pissed. Hell Notre Dame is in the Big East for every other sport except football. Big East should be pissed.

But I dont blame ND...why share when you can have it all to yourself?

Big East should just kick ND out of the conference alltogether. They don't bring anything to the table. Who needs them in basketball?

Agreed...but as long as the Big East thinks it has even the smallest of chances at landing ND fulltime, it wont.

It aint gonna happen though. I agree boot them out

Why shouldn't the Big Ten discourage games with Notre Dame? NDBC wants the best of both worlds - good quality games, but without sharing. Screw ND.

With their AD being Kevin White, I'd assume it's as close to done as possible without crossing the t's and dotting the i's

Hey Skorp off topic but is Clausen's off field transgression going to hurt his chances of starting at QB this season?

For those who haven't heard he got cited for trying to buy alcohol as a minor, a 23 year old ND grad was cited for buying beer for him.

Seems like a pretty minor offense that virtually all of us have done at some point in our lives but Notre Dame prides itself on not tolerating behavioral issues so it will be interesting.

And I gotta ask there's not one 21 year old on the current team he could've asked for the beer?

Jimmy Clausen is an arrogant disaster, in my opinion.

Besides showing up for freshman orientation in a limousine and calling his own press conference to announce his arrival, he supposedly (not confirmed but believed by most to be true) went to a private doctor in the summer and had elbow surgery, without telling Weis' staff about it.

Further unsubstantiated rumor says he still can't throw more than a 15 yd pass.

Then he gets involved with the alcohol thing.

But lets not kid aybody here, Notre Dame may discipline him, but they aren't going to yank his scholarship and kick him out of school for something like this.

And he did not get cited for trying to buy beer. He got cited for owning and driving the car in which a 23 year old bought vodka, whisky and beer. In Indiana, that is an offense of some kind apparently.

Scuttlebut has him running a distant 3rd string anyway. We'll know within a few days.

Obviously I wasn't there but I think the defense is a bit of semantics. He was charged with transporting alcohol as a minor, in Indiana a minor can't be driving the car if an adult has alcohol in it unless the adult is a parent or guardian.

But that's semantics the police were outside a convenience store conducting a sting operation busting minors for attempting to buy alcohol, and busting legal adults for buying it for them. Clausen was the driver so he got busted under the transport law, the 23 year old bought the alcohol so he got cited for inducing a minor to possess alcohol.

It's a misdemeanor and again I don't think it's a big deal but based on what I've read Weis' it's an honest mistake thing is kind of hard to swallow. They were staking out the liquor store because it was apparently well known that minors could go there and get adults to buy beer for them without any problems from the store owners.

It's pretty unlikely Clausen and his minor friend were simply there to let the 23 year old buy booze for himself. Unless we believe that the 23 year old was going to drink 2 bottles of whiskey, one bottle of jack, and 30 cans of beer all by himself!

I agree about Clausen by the way, I was fed up with him long before he picked ND. he comes from a family of QB's and I think he got a really swelled head during the recruitment process.

Ah, screw it Russ. You're right. Clausen is a big time criminal being pampered by Weis. I'll stipulate to that.

Anything else you wish to slyly allude to is okay too. I'll stipulate to those future things too. :)

Actually I'm bashing Clausen not Weis. I think Weis pretty much has to stand up for his players in public if he wants to recruit. I'm just saying what he was cited for and what he did were very likely 2 different things and Weis knows this. weis said it was an honest mistake he didn't know the law, Weis didn't know it himself. That's probably true, but it avoids the real reason they were there.

They were buying booze either for a party or for them and some friends to get drunk. it's not a big deal, but that's the plausible explanation for what they were doing.

I don't think he's being pampered at all I'm just saying the public excuse for what happened is semantics, they couldn't cite him for asking the adult to buy him beer because he drove the adult there, so they cited him for the transport law instead.

Come on I'm 41 and haven't had a drink in years but I can remember being sixteen and standing outside a 7-11 asking adults if they'd buy beer for me. In no way am I suggesting he's a criminal. I think he's a cocky kid but not a criminal.

I just wondered if this was going to impact his shot at the job this year but i hadn't realized the extent of the elbow problem. Earlier this offseason I asked you if Clausen had a chance to start and you said you heard he might be the favorite, obviously that's changed.

ASU hasn't been considered a football 'power' since the 1970s. What's next, Notre Dame adds basketball powers St. John's and DePaul to the basketball schedule?

Apologies Russ. Clausen is a stinking Prima Dona. Let's see how he handles being third string this year (if that happens).

Problem is, Weis doesn't let media see most of his practices, so nobody knows what is really going on. And only seniors are allowed to speak with the press. Weis learned under Parcells and Belichick about controlling the flow of information.

Looks right now like Demetrius Jones and Evan Sharpley are running neck and neck. Jones is an athletic gambler. Sharpley is a more controlled caretaker, rarely screwing up.

Notre Dame will run, run, and run some more this year. My guess is both will play. Sharpley starts but gives way to Jones if the offense isn't moving the chains.
