With all of the the talk about the Suns meeting the Mavs in the WCF, it seems like many people are forgetting about the Spurs. (Who could definitely be a second round matchup.)

Is anyone here afraid of the Spurs? I have a bad feeling that they'll take the series and prevent Phoenix from even making it to the WCF. They're clicking at just the right moment and completely dominated the pace of the last game.

And if the Suns can hold off the Spurs, it will most likely be a beat 'em up and drag 'em out 7 game series - which is never good right before the WCF. We saw what happened last year with two 7 game series's. The Suns completely ran out of steam and the Mavs punched them in the face.

Am I the only one worried about the Spurs? This is just a simple yes or no poll, but feel free to elaborate on your answer.

I don't fear the Spurs (or any other team for that matter) but that doesn't mean that I think the Spurs can't beat the Suns.

Respect is one thing, fear is another. The Suns should respect all their opponents and fear none of them.

if you voted no youre a homer straight up.

That's uncalled for. This isn't ESPN.

Like everyone else has said, there's a difference between fearing an opponent and respecting them. If you fear the Spurs, more power to you. I think they can beat us in a series, but that doesn't mean I'm afraid of them. If the Suns team was afraid of the Spurs, they wouldn't even be in the playoffs.

Apparently there's no reason to be afraid of the Spurs, just keep telling Duncan jokes until he laughs and gets ejected from the game.

I respect the Spurs and I do fear they are the most likely of any team in the West to beat the Suns.

I am more afraid of having to maybe play the Warriors, who might be the hottest team in the NBA... Hopefully they dont reach the 7 seed.

I am afraid of the Spurs. I think they can beat me up very badly. But I don't think the Suns are afraid of them...or should be.

I was thinking that. I really wouldn't put it past GS to pull out a series win against the Suns.

Every team in the playoffs should be respected and not taken for granted. The Suns were lucky to beat the Lakers in a first round series many years ago when then coach Paul Wesphal made the memorable remark: “We will go to Los Angeles and win both games. We will then come back to Phoenix and win Game 5. Then everyone will say what a great series it was.” This was after a good Suns team lost the first two games of a five game series to the 92-93 Lakers.

That was too close for comfort for me. The Lakers were a sub-.500 team.

As usual, these polls are driven by the way the wording is interpreted. I'm not sure I get the point.

I'm not sure I like playing the Warriors, but I suspect a rematch would run a lot different. The Warriors were hitting a lot of very tough shots and the Suns are never going to win if a team goes crazy from the outside. If they played like that against anybody they'd win. However, I'm not sure they can do that for an entire series.

One problem I had with the way the Suns played the Warriors last time was that they did not utilize Amare enough against their small lineup. Instead they kept missing their long shots and opened the Warriors fast break opportuntieis.

Back to the Spurs... I fear the refs more than the Spurs. The Spurs get away with a lot of contact (in other words fouling) which makes it hard to score on them. If they get called, then whine more than any team I know and somehow it seems to work for them (unless Joey Crawford is cranky). The result is an ugly, 90's style game. If the refs call them tight, the Spurs simply don't have the depth to survive a binge of foul cals.

The Valley so low.
I voted 'Yes.' I respect Utah a lot, but I think the odds are very good that we would beat them if we met. I respect SA, too, but it goes further than that. I think we have more talent, but too often they have proven to have our number. A lot of things can go wrong if we play them, including but not limited to the refs. I think we'd win, but I sure wouldn't take any bets.

I respect the Spurs, but if I was going to bet money (Im not) I'd take the Suns in a series over the Spurs. The Suns finally have a solid tool to guard Duncan (KT, who probably defends him as well as anyone in the league), and the Spurs just don't have as many complimentary pieces as they did in the past. They are very weak at the center position, Big Shot Bob is a shell of himself, Finley can only hit a shot if he's open by a mile, etc etc. I do worry about Tony Parkers completely unslowed penetrating. I hope to see KT in the game a lot, manning up on Duncan, allowing Amare to float over and try to block some of Parkers interior shots.

Afraid, as in afraid that the Spurs may take the series. It just seems like most everyone is automatically placing the Suns in the WCF and completely forgetting about the Spurs, who could VERY easily take the second round series.

I'm afraid. I dont want the Suns to play them. They will get beat up in the series. I belive the Suns will win, but it would be a Phyrric victory. The next round would be way tougher than if they rolled an opponent in 4 and was able to empty the bench after the 3rd in everygame. Suns in a brutal 7 game series.
