Is Fitzgerald now the best blocking WR in the game?

Seriously, I haven't seen many other WR, other than guys like Hines Ward, who seem to take such pride in their blocking and so PHYSICAL. He's even blocking LBs and DEs at times.

Anyhow, there is no denying that is he a very, very good blocker and it is almost a big of part of our offense as his catches.

Remember when there were "Boldin v. Fitzgerald" arguments on this board and the most common knock on Fitz was that he was not physical enough? Almost to the extreme of basically calling him a sissy in his first two seasons?

Fitz has come a long way baby. This is as complete package as you can get in a WR.

To answer my question, I feel he his. Based on what I see from WRs blocking on different teams.

But, I'm not going to pretend I watch every NFL game and truly know 100% that he is the best blocking WR right now.

Does anyone have someone they would call better or equal? If so, I would like to watch some video of them. Thanks.

Fitz is the consummate professional. If we're going to ask him to block, he's going to try to be the best blocker on the team. Very much unlike many of the diva WR's across the league.

Floyd is also asked to block quite a bit, and he also does a really good job of it.

I don't recall any of the Q vs Fitz arguments implying Larry was a sissy. Q was more physical than Larry, but Q may be the most physical WR the league.

I miss Q, less now that he's been gone so long, and more so because of his tenure in SF. With all that's gone on with him and his departure.. I think he's cost himself his name in the ROH. While we'd have been a better team with him, I think the team ultimately chose right with Larry.

Go Cards!!!

There definitely were many of those debates and the main knock on Fitz was his lack of physicalness. But, I will not bump any threads. I don't want to drag up old arguments when we are doing so good NOW. I wish I had not mentioned it now.

I will always appreciate what Boldin did to help get this franchise out of the basement of the NFL. But, I hope we kick his butt Sunday.

I am so pleased to see Fitz starting to morph into a punishing inside receiver.

You are observant, AJF, noting that Fitz is peaking in terms of man-strength. He is not that young boy-man coming out of Pitt; quick and fast, but not much of a wallop.

But he looked a lot like that other WR, who shall remain nameless, when he stiff-armed and rolled that DB for TD.

In that play, he looked like a consummate pro, a couple of could quick moves (practiced a thousand times), a burst of distance eating strides and then the addition of a power finish to the goal line. Perfect.

Go Big Red.

I think Fitz is the most physical WR in the game which includes blocking, catching and of course running.

He is being used almost like a tight end at this point.

I was traveling so I had to listen to the game on Sirius radio with the Bears announcers. They made mention of the fact Fitz was lining up and basically playing the TE position.
