SAN FRANCISCO – Florida basketball coach Todd Golden is 74-33 as UF’s coach and has guided the Florida Gators to an SEC Tournament title and Final Four trip in his third season.

So, is the 39-year-old Golden due for another raise?

Golden signed a two-year extension through 2030 after leading UF to a 24-12 record and NCAA trip in 2024, but his salary of $3.6 million this season still ranks 12th out 15 SEC coaches and public schools per the USA Today’s college basketball salary database.

Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin would not confirm and deny that talks are in place for another extension for Golden, who has earned $125,00 in bonuses for winning the SEC Tournament and reaching the Final Four. That bonus will increase to $175,000 if UF wins the national title.

“We’ll deal with that in due time,” Stricklin said following UF's 84-79 win over Texas Tech in the Elite Eight. "We treat our coaches very fairly at the University of Florida and we will continue to treat him fairly.”

Stricklin praised Golden’s ability to build a roster based on certain personality traits and skillsets. Under Golden, Florida has improved from 16 wins to 24 wins to 34 wins in his first three seasons.

“When you have plan and you understand culture at a high level which he does and you understand the importance of the people you surround yourself with and you just stick to that plan, good things are gonna happen,” Stricklin said.

Golden weathered a Title IX investigation that began in September but was dropped in late January due to insufficient evidence. After going unbeaten in non-conference play, UF went 14-4 in SEC play, one game behind Auburn for the conference title. From there, Florida won three in a row in Nashville to lead UF to its first SEC Tournament title since 2014.

Florida (34-4) has won 10 straight and 16 of its last 17 games.

"We've just kept our head down and focused, and we haven't let some of the outside attention disrupt us and take us off our path," Golden said,
