that in order for Parsons to start, McCown has to be injured. I heard since the third QB is considered an emergency player that in order for him to start there has to be an injury first. I really want to see him play. And I have to admit after Josh settled down he played decently.

More accurate to say that once the 3rd string QB (aka emergency) QB goes in, the other 2 are done.

I don't think it requires an injury, but either it is a one way trip.

You can shuffle them all you want untill game time.

Kind of like baseball lineups, Once the 3rd stringer(emergency QB) goes in to the game QBs 1 and 2 can't come back.

The rule actually says the first 2 have to be injured, the reason being otherwise you may as well just add 1 to the roster and let every team have 3 QB's for every game.

I never liked the rule there's a bunch of uses for a #3 QB like holder that are precluded by the rule. I also think there's a good argument that the Steelers violate the rule when they put Randle-El at QB even if it's just for one play.

That's why they leave the starting QB on the field. It's a technicality but it's perfectly legal.

Yea but couldn't every football player claim one injury or another?
The NBA rule is the IR is for injured players, like that is reality.

So if the rule is in case of injury: Could the no 2 QB replace an injured no 1, get injured himself, be replaced by the emergency QB, leave the game for treatment, then return to the game?

It is so teams can have more roster spots and not use 3 for the QB position. The emergency QB does not count and so allows one more player to be on the roster.

It is the Union that cares not the teams.

I believe it prevents a team from "sneaking" another position player onto the roster. So like you list Renaldo Hill as the 3rd QB and then bring him in as a CB, once he enters the game the other two QB's can't play
