The late and great draft analyst Joel Bushbaum used to use the term planet person as being a guy who at his size could do things on a football field that no other human being on the planet could do.

Joel passed about 10 years ago and the last 2 guys I recall him using the term planet person were on Jevon "the Freak" Kearse and Randy Moss. He described Kearse as a planet person because at 256 pounds, he could run like no other player ever had at his position. As for Moss, he was described as a planet person because he had the freakish speed and agility of a guy much smaller.

Cody definitely moves like no other 380 pound guy I have ever seen. People just assume that at 380 pounds, he is just another Ted Washington (which by the way would not be a bad thing). I've watched about every game the guy played at Alabama and in alot of ways he reminds me of a much heavier version of Darnell Dockett. Cody has the same kind of up the field quickness (not as quick as Dockett but when you are talking about a man almost 100 pounds heavier) , and similar agility.

I love Cody and see him as the perfect pet project for John Lott. IMHO Cody has Hall of Fame talent if he will work on his conditioning.

He was overweight for the Senior Bowl and said he would get in better shape for the Combine. But even though he was overweight here is what Scoot Wright DraftCountdown.com said about his play in the game:

Say what you want about Alabama NT Terrence Cody’s but he is a darn good player. Despite all of the criticism about his weight this week Cody had a terrific game, finishing with 1.5 tackles for a loss and forcing a fumble. On one goalline play Cody reestablished the line of scrimmage and stuffed LeGarrette Blount. At one point Cody also displayed a nice little spin move as a pass rusher, which was unexpected. I don't know how teams in search of a 3-4 nose could not like Cody

I would love to see us take him at #26.

If we do draft him, expect no more 100 yard games from no name running backs like Justin Forsett and Maurice Morris. I think he could possibly had in the early 2nd by Boldin trade.

He is definitely one of the guys that I am looking at in the 26 spot. I was talking with Joe about what we should do at the 26 spot, and his point was that Cody presents a potential all pro player who may be a risk, but may be a dominant player for years. I am starting to like him over Dan Williams, who I also think will be a good pro. The hard decision for me would be if Sean Weatherspoon and Terrance Cody were available at 26.

I hope Cody is there at 26 for us, I like Weatherspoon but with the depth of LB's in this years draft I'm thinking NT is the way to go in the first round.

I thought before I opened this thread that this was describing Cody as looking like a planet. But I'll accept the alternate theory :D

I agree as well. I like Weatherspoon , but it would be tough to pass on a guy like Cody. I do wonder though if Cody will drop though due to weight.

It would be great to have both there and it is possible as most analysts don't have either on their top 20. However, I don't think either would drop to our pick late in round 2 so if we really wanted one we would have to use our #26 pick.

I think you jump on Weatherspoon, dude is just going to be an excellent ILB and probably the leader for any defense he goes to. Although NT would be a more valuable position, Cody comes with a much larger question mark.

Couldn't go wrong with "Spoon". He is a real playmaker and leader. He was all over the field in the Senior Bowl.
