Is this a virus?

Hey guys. My IE6 homepage keeps getting reset everytime I restart my computer. It gets reset to some weird page that has nothing to do with Microsoft. I ran an updated Norton to see if there was a virus, and there was. I had backdoor jeem. I went through and removed it manually using Symantec's online guides. However the IE6 homepage problem is still there. If you guys know of any fix for this please let me know. Thanks.

I had a similar problem with 'luckysearch.net.' I was able to get rid of the problem temporarily with Adaware, but it kept coming back after I restarted. Then I used CWS Shredder and it was removed permanently: http://www.spychecker.com/program/cwshredder.html

You might have a registry key that keeps reinserting it.

I ran into a problem with a couple people's computers here at work where they had this "search" toolbar in IE and a ton of ads were being replaced on webpages with really nasty porno ads.

You know when you go to CNN.com or a reputable site, that the ads running shouldn't say "check out the paris hilton sex video here!" or crap like that.

I did a couple quick google searches and found out who was responsible for the browser hacks. They had an uninstaller available on their site. It worked and removed the program, but I was a little apprehensive that the uninstall just added more spyware of some sort.

I had the same exact problem. I also used cwshredder and I haven't had the problem since.
