Saints | Turley Traded to Rams - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
15:43 PT: The New Orleans Saints have announced that they have traded OT Kyle Turley to the St. Louis Rams for a second-round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft.

What do you think the rams have in mind? Maybe I should start a rumor they are trading pace to the texans some draft picks..now why would the texans not be all over turley..they could then go best athlete with their 1st round pick?

Turley wants 10 mil in a bonus money. Pace is quoted as wanted..... drumroll....TWENTY FOUR MIL IN BONUS MONEY ALONE. Does't the NFL test for Crack? 'Cause somebody should check his locker.

say what you want, the Rams STOLE Turley from the Saints. A second round pick is nothing for an emotional leader on the offensive line as well as a hell of a player. Good move for the Rams, bad move for us.

If nothing else...this free agent offseason may be a sign of NFL owners coming to their senses on contracts and signing bonuses (at least some teams)...Washington overpaid for a few guys and some marginal players were paid too much by a few teams...but for the most part - contracts were reasonable - especially at wide receiver, safety, etc. The contracts the redskins paid were not that outrageous - the only problem is that some of the players were marginal and got above market contracts..

Personally, I think the days of singing bonuses in the $15 - $20 mil plus range are not going to happen in the future for veteran free agents. Orlando Pace will not get anything close to what he wants.. I hear terrell owns wants something like $20 - $25 million from the 49ers...not going to happen.. A few years ago - these guys would have gotten close to this type of $$..but I think those days are over.

What is the largest signing bonus paid so far this offseason? I think Jake, Boston and colvin were all in the $6 - $7 million range. Now that was way too much for jake..but seems the only people that know this are cardinals fans..

Why is that a bad move for us? If there is one position we are solid on is OT. Plus they better sign Turley to a big deal or he's gone next year. 10 mil is nothing to sneeze at for a bonus.

when I read what turley was traded for..I thought I had misread it the 1st time.. a 2nd round pick next season??

only way it is not that great of a deal for the rams is if he only has one season there..but they will probably sign him to a long term deal.

I think jake got like a few now and he will get $7 million or so in 2 seasons..which he will not get more than likely.. I think the upfront cash was more like $5 - $7 million..but I could be wrong. I will look it up..

I think the following may be incorrect...

Broncos | Big Bucks For Plummer - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
14:19 PT: Updating earlier stories, ESPN.com reports QB Jake Plummer agreed to a seven-year, $40 million contract with the Denver Broncos. The deal calls for $13 million in guaranteed bonuses, including $7 million to sign and a $6 million signing bonus.

I thought he got $6 or $7 mil now and the second phase of his bonus will be paid after 2 seasons..so the broncos can pay phase 2, cut him, or restructure.. I thought the above report had been corrected to reflect that..but I cannot find it.
YOu may be right..

Pasqurelli had that in his article. They were asking for a first, but who'd trade a first for a guy who's gone next year? Faulk went for a second and Bledsoe went for a first, but NEXT YEAR'S (at that time). Can everybody see why Thomas Jones has no value? If Turley is a second and so is Faulk, what is Jones worth?

Just read a quote (for what it is worth) saying how Turley solidified the RT position........ This may be smoke, but if you pay the guy LT money, why play him at RT?

Does St Louis have a left handed QB? RT is more important in that situation.

It's a bad move for us because it makes the Rams that much better, not because we should have signed him. I don't think the initial point was that we should have traded for him, but that it's bad because now the Rams have another solid O-Lineman.

But if they can't lock up Pace, Turley (even though he is a good player) is nowwhere close to Pace. The Rams will just be treading water.

Granted, but the view I was taking was simply this: They lost Pace already. It's almost a foregone conclusion. Without him, their O-line is in disarray. The trade for Turley, therefore, is bad for us because it helps improve that OL. Granted, it's only treading water, but would you ratrher they got Turley or they went with what they had? I'd go with the latter, myself.

It is interesting how the Cardinals quickly shun players who draw negative attention in the public spotlight and the Rams love them.

All of the St. Louis news outlets extoled Turley by showing all his video clips where he behaved like a complete ass on the field. Up here, we did not see any magnificent pancake blocks, or HB's sprung by downfield chucks. As far as anyone in in St. Louis knows, Turley can chuck a mean helmet so he is a good FA signing.

He will fit right in with Faulk and Little.
