When you lose, especially like we did Sunday, everyone tends to micro-manage.
This was our worst game of the year and had the ref not blown the call on the int, well who know, the game COULD have turned out differently.

I am not relenting on the biggest problem and that is the QB position. Warner has the go ahead to audible and is should be experienced enough to check down. He has sucked against Tampa in the past and he sucked again Sunday. The game plan is simple. Put pressure on Warner, especially up the middle and watch his eyes. Any time an opponent executes this plan we will struggle.

I still say if Garcia was our QB Sunday , we would have won. We have ZERO ability to buy time because of Warners total inability to move. Our O-line needs to perform to perfection in pass protection for us to complete any kind of pass play that takes longer than 3 Mississippi.

How many times did Garcia wiggle out of trouble to find an open receiver or scramble just enough for a first down. THAT was the difference in the game.
He had our defense on their collective heels and gassed by the middle of the 3rd quarter because of that ability.

Is Whiz over his head? Absolutely not. But he is playing a chess game every week without his queen.( No joke here please.) I am as guilty as anybody for being glad we had Warner as a backup. In retrospect is was one of the worse moves we could have made. Looking back, what we should have done was offer Warner the QB coaching position AND kept him in the wings as a 3rd string emergency QB. WE should have went after a guy like Garcia.

To late for that now, We are who we are and have who we have. The roster is made up of 53 guys. If you're on that roster then you should be able to contribute. We are 1 play away from Tim Rattay anyway, so why would it be such a terrible idea to get him in there, at least for a couple of series?

I know, I know. Warner gives us our best chance to win......

Bull.

he's a first year coach learning the ropes, hamstrung by a roster put together by buffoons. Get him a real GM to take advantage of a lot of cap room and a likely high pick and then give him another two years. If we still suck at that point, then yes, he's in over his head. Until then, I won't get on him too much.

A new GM is not going to happen for a while, I would just stop thinking about that.

I like Whiz better than I liked Green, and I liked the Green hiring. I liked both hirings better than anyone they'd hired in a long time. I'm willing to give him at least the second half of his first season before I start doubting him.

THat's my take too Whiz won't take the money and do nothing like Green did. He'll work to correct the problems.

I do wonder about the base offense though I hope as he gets more confidence in Matt we begin to see it run a lot better and I hope we get some speed on offense in here next year somehow. It's like we're constantly playing wtih a short field in the redzone because we have no speed.

then we may as well stop watching this team because until a new GM does come in, we will be horrendous forever IMO. That being said, the above is easier said than done.

should he turn over play calling to a coordinator? should he tone down his offensive package should he try adjusting things to fit the players he has instead of as many said here trying to make his team reach to try and do things they aren't that good at,

i am no genius as he has been labeled, but if anything this losing season ought to humble him and look at doing things differently if he can adjust,

i don't think i can stand another coaching staff turned over after a few years of failure, the cycle needs to end
what should we do, i want to be the fan of a winner

One thing that seems to me to be apparent is that he is to slow getting the plays into Warner. Warner appeared to really be p-----off on Sunday as you could see him right in the face of Whiz. I would like to know what that conversation was about? On several occasions Warner was seen sending a hurry up signal to the sideline for a play. No reason to have slow play calling when you have a 15 year veteran QB out there screaming for a play.

Good post. I agree with all of it. Bolded and colored segment of above quote is right on target!
Tampa Bay safety Tanard Jackson said Warner has a reputation for staring down receivers and Jackson was able to make the game’s first interception when he said Warner did just that.

John, Warner is always pissed off when he comes off the field after something goes wrong and he always angrily runs off at the mouth on the sidelines, usually to a coach.

If Kurt had any clue about time management and made fewer dumb mistakes, I'd give more credence to blaming the coaches for slow play calling. All coaches sometimes are slow getting a play in.

I'm still waiting to see Kurt study a snapshot of a play where he threw a pick. Manning does it every time. Kurt doesn't seem to think it matters.
