I can't get the actual article from the Orlando Sentinel, but here is an excerpt, courtesy of realgm.com.
Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel: It appears that other teams had interest in Isiah Thomas as a head coach before the Knicks snatched him up to be their team president.
"Thomas, president of basketball operations for the Knicks, told New York reporters that he "talked with Orlando and Phoenix only to find out they were going in another direction. But as things turned out, to my great surprise, I ended up with a far better job."
In what capacity would he have been hired? It doesn't seem like coach or general manager were up for grabs(and if they were, thank God he didn't take them).
