Patriots twice?

I guess he is looking into camp battles.

I guess our OLB competition, or TE competition, or RB competition, or guard competition wasn't worth mentioning.

That or he got tired half way through and mailed it in.

Yea I think you are reading that wrong. He is basing that off of contenders who have some big training camp battles coming up. The only battle I really see that is noteworthy will be Hightower/Wells.

I dont think thats a slight.

rugby, i think you misunderstand the meaning of the article. it's not a list of contenders. it's a list of position battles for contenders that are missing key pieces of their team from prior seasons. every single one of those listed talks about a key player being gone from the team. if we had traded quan i could see us being on that list, but in reality we only lost antonio smith and edge. it could be said that there is no real position battle for smith's spot as calais is the only real contender. you could make the argument for edge's spot, but i think everyone knows that beanie will take that spot. this isn't really a disrespectful article. you've got thin skin on this one imo.

let's get training camp started!!!

I hope the disrespect card is not needed this year after what they accomplish last year I hope they have a swagger and a confidence that will carry them through this season and many more.

Sorry that is all back to the article.................................

The Cards won't get the respect we think they should because of the 3 games where they mailed in the result: @Philly, @NE and at home vs Minn.

However, any real sports journalist would look at the situations surrounding those games and Arizona's history and realize that those contests were abnormal.

If you do that you see a veteran Cardinals team that was 12-5, were in the SB down to the wire, and had one of the best run defenses in the league. It would make a huge difference in how you would write your predictions for 2009.

Sadly most won't make the effort and we'll hear mainly that the Cards were either inconsistent or just got hot at the right time in 2008.

That was my take as well. I started trying to through the 'camp battles' this year and RB is the only one that comes to mind. Unless you want to count the 4th WR or nickel safety or fullback.

Sometimes I wish I had chosen sports journalism as a career. Not that I am an expert by any measure. But it is apparent that one doesn't need to know what they are talking about to have a career in it. It's all about volume - just spit out something to meet the deadline...
New England Patriots

Position: Outside linebacker.

Front runner: Pierre Woods. With Adalius Thomas and Jerod Mayo manning the middle and Tedy Bruschi at the other outside linebacker spot, the right outside linebacker will be expected to keep his end of the deal in ensuring the Patriots maintain one of the best LB units in the league. Woods is a four-year veteran out of Michigan who saw some time and excelled when given the opportunity last year. He's also a special teams demon.

Long shot: Shawn Crable. Crable's a second-year man out of Michigan who hasn't made any impact in the league yet. He'll likely back up Adalius Thomas at the left outside linebacker spot.

For what its worth MSN has us listed as 5th in a precamp power ranking.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/powerRankings?GT1=39002

But even if positive it is safer to take them with a grain, most media\journalist types still don't seem to know what to make of our team. They have been discouraging and negative for so long that it has to be hard to shake.

I've been having a 20+ year love affair with this team and I'm still walking around saying to myself, The Arizona Cardinals were in the Superbowl. :)

Figuratively speaking for me, that is..

Anyone who has been a fan of the Cards for any length of time has to have grande Huevos. And I am sure that a female Cards fan must truely understand what it is meant by having ones huevos busted.:)

.
Which is ridiculous because whe had 3 equally impressive wins: vs. ATL, @Car, and vs. PHI. Not to mention the SB performance.

Either people judge the team by all of their meirts or they (the pundits) should STHU.

I hope everyone continues to underestimate the team, for they will make the asshats eat their words again...

I am talking to you WINGO! You freaking tool!

I am not big on the whole, the Cardinals don't get any respect from the media thing. Yes, during the playoffs I was more than a little P.O.'d about what was being said.

But, this is kind of a kick in the ol' balls.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9837884/Training-camp-battles-to-determine-the-Super-Bowl

Bears ? Dolphins ? Colts ?

Yet, no Cardinals.

:mulli:

Last year we were not a dominating team. The ball bounced our way and we got hot when it counted. Add to that Kurt Warner stayed healthy and we had the best receiving corps in the NFL. Can all this happen again? Sure hope so but I doubt we are a 10-1 to be in the superbowl. This year we are going to have to show we can run the ball even with the best passing game in the NFL. Lose Fitz or Warner and all bets are off.
