It's a new year and looking forward to this upcoming season because it can't get any worse than last year.

It will be interesting to see how the new guys perform and if Vasquez is here or if he is traded. I think we are about a year or two away from seriously challenging for the NL West but I believe we can be competitive this year.

I don't do New Year resolutions but I hope we can stop the negative talk for a while. The one thing I am sick of reading is the people on this board ripping the front office. Sure they have made some really bad moves but we don't have to hear it every day.

I think we should take a positive view right now and wait until the season unfolds. We all knew there would be some hard years for signing all those veterans but I'll take that 2001 World Series title even though it meant having to watch this team rebuild. I'll admit when I feel kind of depressed I'll put in the tape of game 7 of the 2001 WS and watch the 9th inning and postgame to make me feel better. After that I feel we can experience that again, I just have to stay positive.

I woke up from a dream a couple nights ago that the Diamondbacks were actually competitive in 2005. In my dream it was August 2005, and I woke up saying, "Wow, Troy Glaus is pretty good!" There: That's my optimistic thought to start 2005.

Now excuse me while I pack my RJ mementos into a box.

Nice post Zona. I also am optimistic and I’m growing tired of all the negative posts. Here's to a competitive 05!

I'm with you Zenny. My wife and I hope that our D'Backs have a proud 2005 and make a good first step in working their way back.

I respect Bob Melvin and Jay Bell. But with two such low-key guys in the top two spots on the field, I hope each sticks some firecrackers up the other's butt once in awhile. :doi:

Hoping this team does well goes against my intelligence and judgement, but if they suck, this will be a pretty boring summer. I think it will take a lot of very pleasant surprises for this team to compete, but who knows? I suppose it is theoretically possible that this mess can be turned into a contender...
