Seen it or no?

I watch it every Christmas Eve. It's on now, actually.

Say Brainless, don't you know where coconuts come from? :)

We used to watch it every Christmas in my house, but now we're switching to Love Actually :)

I did get to see A White Christmas this year, which I hadn't seen in awhile, loved that.

Hate it! Can appreciate what it is and what it stood for and in its day, it certainly would have been excellent. Man, it just doesnt hold up. Hour upon hour of shlock. It so syrupy it makes me squirm.

Ill take White Christmas any day.

Wonderful Life overrated? Schlock? Doesn't hold up?

First off, "holding up" is ridiculous...it's a very old movie, no movies in that genre "hold up" like you mean.

Second, like Linderbee said, you are both dead to me too :D

Disagree. There are tons of movies that hold up, in both story, acting, and plot line. White Christmas is shlocky, too. But its well done shlock. Danny Kaye is hilarious. ZUZU'S PETALS! ZUZU'S PETALS! THERE THEY ARE!!!!!! wretch. If dead is what I have to be, dead is what I am.

I'm sure there's a movie historian hanging around who will correct me if I'm misremembering the stories about it but I seem to recall it really wasn't much "in its day". At the time, it was considered to be proof that Capra had lost it with the public.

I like the movie but I'd agree with the others that label it overrated. It's a good movie, just not a great one IMO. As for holding up, I actually think that's one of its strengths. It has the potential to be emotionally impactful even after multiple viewings.
