It's getting painfully obvious

that the Cards aren't looking to hire a GM. It's sounding more and more like the 3 Imbeciles(Bowtie, Jr., and Mikey) are going to conduct the search for the HC. What an absolute joke. Those 3 can't even be in the same room togther and they are supposedly going to conduct a search for the new head coach. How these guys run a NFL franchise is amazing. I sometimes get feeling bad for all the heat Bidwill takes but when they make these assinine decisions, and have for years, he deserves every bit of scathing criticism he gets. We have heard of all these possible coaching candidates and not one mention of a GM candidate. You know Howdy Doody is going to keep his job. It's amazing that they run through coach after coach who have had success elsewhere but fail here.Yet, they keep the same front office structure from the 70's. Aren't George Boone and Larry Wilson still in the front office in some capacity? It's amazing that they continue to reward incompetence. I'll bet anything that Rod Graves is retained as acting GM/VP of football operations.
I do think if they let Mikey have the run of the office that he would at least try and run a legitimate franchise and get rid of Graves/Green. He's actually been out in the real world and not nestled away in the Cards front office like Billy has.Mike,it seems, at least has some competitiveness to him.

I've never expected anything different. I always felt they would not hire a GM and that Graves would stay in some capacity. I tried to tell you guys that, but would you listen? Noooooo!!!! :D

And what businesses have you guys run?

I would say that's an irrelevant question unless you can name another business where you can be inept as long as the Bidwills have, and stay in business. The NFL is a can't lose prospect, you can always make your payroll from tv money, if you never spend to the cap you even save a bit of that tv money for profit. You can't fail if you don't spend too much of your own money on bonuses, which is the business model the Bidwills have used for years.

In any normal business if you were as bad as the Bidwills are, you'd go out of business due to market forces, the NFL system protects them from that.

Hey, someones gotta lose. The Bidwills serve a useful function to the NFL. That's why Bill is so loved and revered.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

If i hear one more fricking Bidwill supporter come out of the woodwork i am going to get an uzi and go ontop of the practice facility and just start picking off people...

You have got to be kidding me? This ownership has torn out our hearts year after year after year. They are the only constant. They catch onto things about 30 years too late (like escalator clauses) and make us fans a laughingstock among people everywhere.

I willinglly choose to follow this team as i am a big believer you can't appreciate the sweet without a little sour (or a ton of sour in this case) but i will not stand by any longer and have anyone defend that bowtied idiot.

What business have i run? I will tell you this. What other market does the ownership of a team gives you carte blanch of every possible benefit of revenue sharing and parity yet no penalty for continuing ineptness. In any other business they would have run themselves into the ground around 1956. Instead the NFL makes it possible for them to survive. If not for the foresight of the eldest Bidwills to purchase the team you would see Billy Sr looking for donations on Van Buren or at the most living in a one bedroom condo in Sun Lakes.

Its not even that Bill is cheap (which he is). Its his complete and utter ineptitude. Its as if GE handed the keys of its multi billion dollar company to Grandpa Simpson and said "Run with it"

Screw Bill Bidwill. I don't see any hope for this team until he cedes control to Mike. And i will follow just as ferevrently up until that point but i am convinced we won't ever get it right until the eldest Billy is out of the picture.

The Bidwills do not make good football decisions, and in the long run it's costing them money.

And what businesses have you guys run?
A carpet cleaning business and a communications consulting business. You?

Thus far -- all I have heard is third hand speculation

The Bill Jr thing is a classic example. A NFL type thinks Bill Jr might want input and suddenly we all think he is picking the new head coach.

They havent given Graves a new contract for a reason -- I think they didnt want to give a contract to a guy who is on the bubble.

I am saving my hysterics for when they hire Rich Kotite

I've run a business for over 10 years now in a hyper competitive enviroment, if I screw up I don't eat.

That's got zero to do with my opinion on this though, I'll just leave it at what Russ said.

The Bidwills have one playoff victory in 50 years, that's amazing where for 35 of that you had captive talent by draft.

That's just not a fact you can not dance around, it's so huge you'd need a backpack and 25 Sherpas to haul your gear around that bad boy.

That stuck in my head as i was listening to the Dan Lebetard show here in Miami, as he said that in reference to himself going crazy...

Probably a little bit extreme but I meant that in the sanest way possible.;)

Bit of my anger coming through my fingers. "Change picking people off of the practice facility" to "stabbing an icepick through my own head."

My disdain for what that man has done to the franchise continues to reach bitter lows. I just want a fighting chance.....

I don't mean to pile on , but any longtime fan is intelligent enough to realize there is one glaring problem with this organization year after year. Ownership has been the one constant each losing season. Players have changed, coaches, and even G.M's. Bill Bidwill is the worst owner in professional sports. Cheap and completely uninterested in fielding a competetive team. Remember Cederic Mack and Kelly Stouffer? That Mack selection cost them the Eastern Division in 84. The sole reason for selecting Mack was finances. He wanted a cheap first round selection. This is the same guy that pulled the team out of St.Louis because Busch Stadium was inadequate. Then proceeded to move the team in a college stadium in worse condition with fewer receipts at the gate. Never in the history of sports has there been an organization run more inefficiently than the Cardinals. The same penny-pinching ways continue to this day.

Dude I would sell my soul for just an average NFL team to cheer for...

Cardinal fans have only the offseason to look forward to. Then we can atleast pretend some of the moves the team make will be good ones. We have untill preseason to be dissappointed, again...

How many teams have owners that take a complete "hands-off" approach? I certainly don't know, but my guess is not many.

I generally skip these bash Bidwill threads, not because I disagree; but, mainly because I think of them as a waste of time. I firmly believe that a Bidwill will own and control this team for every single day of my lifetime.

IMO, they see it as a family business, and as so many have pointed out, the NFL is set up in such a way that they can't ever lose....financially speaking.

The question we should all be asking is, "Can we win in spite of ownership?"

I don't know the answer to this question either, but I surely hope so.

Go Cards!!!

Nice thread. Only a matter a time before the "true fans" show up to defend the Bidwills. I wish the family would just move aside for a season or two and see what happens.

I agree, but have come to the conclusion that it will not happen in my lifetime. As a young boy at Busch stadium I sat next to an individual that screamed, "Sell the team Bidwill !" the entire game. Sadly, it has never happened.

One of the funniest moments I have ever witnessed at a Professional game was a couple years ago at Sun Devil Stadium. I flew into town to watch the Card play the Lions in 2001 or 2002. The previous week they had been waxed by K.C. 49-0. A guy sitting next to me in the endzone suddenly got up, pulled his pants down and mooned the pressbox where Bidwill was watching the game. Security didn't see the humor in his gesture, but I certainly did.
