Had mine for 2 and a half years, time to get a good one. AT&T just sent me a letter saying I was due for an upgrade. Any advise. No Blackberries.

NOT a Razr. They really suck. Both my older daughters insisted on getting them, against the recommendation of the Sprint rep, and they both regret it. I've had to take both of them in for warranty crap twice each, and they're still not right. My kids have many assorted complaints about them & their functionality.

wait, you're getting a new phone because AT&T is telling you to buy one?

That's some pretty powerful advertising they have going on....

No. It's time for a new phone. I have no camera, I can't receive good multi-media messages, and its plainly outdated. I have been pondering this before getting the ad. Plus, I wants the blueteeth.

No razr for me, my wife has one. I've tried texting on hers and it gets screwed up. Do you know what I'm talking about?

I just got a Blackberry Pearl the other day after using a Treo for 2 years.

I love it.

Getting e-mails in real time can be a blessing or a curse.

I didn't read it the same way. I can't speak for Black, but if he signed a 2-year contract, they will give you a decent phone for cheap if you sign up for a new contract once your commitment is met.

It's the "razor" and "blades" marketing. I think they just want him to sign up for a service renewal with the enticement of a better phone. If he likes the provider service, then no problem getting a better phone for cheap.

I'm sure my kids do. I didn't get one. I got the cheap one that was free. (I'm a tightwad that way)

Blackberry would be cool, but that is for e-mail and internet stuff right? I'm not important enough for one of those, plus my plan doesn't have unlimited internet. I mainly want to capture photos and send them.(on occasion)

Yeah, I don't think you need a blackberry; was just saying it's a good phone.

If you stay with ATT the high end Sony's are fantastic. Switching to Verizon, get an Env2, or Voyager, or Glyde. Verizon has the Motorola 755 now too. Brand new.

Blackberries.... The Curve on either network is best.

PDA's.... The HTC Touch for non-texters, or something like the Tilt or 6900 for texters.

Sprint/T-Mobile...... Not big enough for me.

p.s. Stay away from the hype. the iphone is not ideal unless your goal is to look pretty.

I've had a razr for over a year with no complaints. but I'm not a phone junkie or text obsessed, so maybe your youngen's have a different expectation.

I'm sure therein lies the difference.

My car was recently stolen with my cell phone inside, so I'm actually looking for a new phone too. I have been very surprised by the extremely high "pain in the ass" factor when it comes to replacing a cell phone. Once your on a plan, the cell phone companies do not make it easy to replace a phone cheaply.

Verizon offers a couple of cool things.

1. In Store warranty replacement. (AT&T Does not offer this and never will.)
2. For $5.99 per month you get insurance for things you do to the phone (like water damage), and your 12 month warranty extends out past the initial 12 months. Sooo.... you get in-store replacements forever. You must get this. No really.... You must get it.
3. They also insure PDA's and high end devices. ANY verizon device can get insurance.

Yes, insurance is a must with your cell, well worthy the five plus bucks a month.
I'm on Verizon too.
