Iverson has to be the biggest ball hog in the NBA, and he's killing his own team.
he easily has the most FG attempts in the NBA.....with over 100 more than the next FG happy guy. and that's also factoring in the McGrady has played in 4 more games than Iverson.
Iverson......1575
McGrady.....1455
LeBron........1353
Leading the league in FG attempts while also leading your team in assists tells me one thing.....Iverson has the ball in his hands all the time.
but i must also say that the coaching of that team is some of the worst in the league. O'Brien WILL be fired at the end of the season. and if Philly wants Dalambert to succeed on that team after signing him to a fat contract, O'Brien MUST go. he focuses his offense and defense in the wrong ways. he willingly runs the team through Iverson....something Larry Brown refused to do. and O'Brien just doesnt know how to use the talent that he's got. just look at the stats of Skinner, Thomas, Williamson, and Webber after the trade.
.................Team..........Minutes..FG Mks/Atps....FG%....Blks....Rbds....Pts
Skinner........Philly ..........10.3.......0.9 - 2.4.......38.6.....0.3.....2.6.....2.0
.................Sacramento...29.8......4.1 - 7.3........56.0.....2.2.....9.4.....9.0
Thomas.......Philly............28.6......4.6 - 10.1......45.6.....0.1.....6.6....11.3
.................Sacramento...32.7......5.6 - 11.9......47.3.....0.5.....8.8....14.4
Williamson ...Philly............22.0......4.0 - 8.7.......46.5.....0.3.....3.7....10.8
.................Sacramento...18.4......2.9 - 6.4.......45.1.....0.1.....2.9.....8.3
Webber ......Sacramento...36.3......9.0 - 19.9......49.9.....0.7.....9.7....21.3
.................Philly............33.2......6.8 - 17.6......38.8.....0.7.....7.8....15.8
to me, that's a huge difference. when scrubs become very decent role players, and a star becomes mediocre. Kenny Thomas is playing better than Webber right now.
and thats a combination of two of the worst things on a team....a coach that doesnt fit the system to the players, and a teamate who's more concerned about his stats than anything else.
the crazy thing next year is that Philly has the potential to have 3 players accounting for the salary cap figure. Webber's $19,125,000... Iverson's $16,453,000... and Dalambert's potential $7,000,000+ = $42,578,000+.
