When the Memphis Grizzlies take the court on Saturday for their first game since the firing of coach Taylor Jenkins, they might have their star back.
Ja Morant was listed as questionable on the Grizzlies' injury report in advance of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers at FedExForum. He has missed six consecutive games because of a hamstring injury he suffered against the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 14.
"It was something that happened in the game," Jenkins said before Thursday's loss to the Thunder. "It was kind of what came out of the Cleveland game. . . He's making a lot of great progress. He's working his tail off to get back out there. We're excited to get him back out there. He is, too."
Jenkins' surprise firing on Friday means there's no shortage of storylines heading into Saturday's game, and that could include Morant's return. The Grizzlies next host the Celtics on Monday and the Warriors on Tuesday.
Marvin Bagley III (concussion protocol) was also listed as questionable. Brandon Clarke is out for the season with a knee sprain, while GG Jackson and Yuki Kawamura are with the Memphis Hustle of the G League. Zyon Pullin remains out as he recovers from patellar tendon surgery.
