you have no soul! George C. Scott makes ANYTHING funnier!

Cheese, I had a teacher for a film class in college who knew George C. Scott. And hated him. This teacher would show a clip from one of his films to talk about his acting techniques then go off on a tangent about what a horrible person he was. It was hysterical.

What did you learn about George C's acting technique? Or do you only remember the smack talk?

That he was an intuitive actor who sucked the life out of the actors around him. She said he did this by knowing his lines backwards and forwards. And was then able to listen to what was being said to him and be able to respond to it viscerally. (He wasn't looking over someone's shoulder to read the cue cards.)

According to this teacher he was a pretty angry guy (she gave examples) and knew it so he chose the roles that let him express what was bottled up in him.

I had this class a couple years after Patton came out. We must have watched parts of that film 20 times. I can still do a pretty decent imitation of his "like crap through a goose" line. :)

Lots of good acting around George C. In Patton and The Hustler. What movies was your teacher in? :)

What was the verdict?

There's profanity, so consider this NSFW.

sadly, when we got to theater, they were having a special screening there of something else so we were assed out... and then decided to see Happy Feet 2, which made us want to kill ourselves. man, was that movie awful.

The only one I remember is The Great Race and I only remember that because we saw it in class and some of my friends crashed the class to watch it. Her best friend was Trish Van Devere (who was married to George C.). That's how we got the inside scoop on what an SOB he was, lol.

I recently watched it. It's just as terrible as you'd think. My son wanted to take his friends to it as part of his birthday party. Apparently it was pretty funny to a bunch of 12 year olds.
