This may include Harrington to the Hawks as a S & T

((The Hawks will re-sign Jackson to a six-year, $44 million deal and then trade him to the Pacers for forward Al Harrington. The trade cannot take place until at least July 14th, per NBA rules.))

It says 6 years for $44. mil., not $39. mil.

That is 7.33 mil per year.

Jackson turned down 3 years for 9 mil from the Spurs last year and everyone called him stupid. I imagine he is smiling now.

These salaries are getting very high!!!

The Pacers should get a draft pick or something along with this deal. Isn't Harrington a better player than Jackson?

Maybe, but more importantly, the Pacers could probably have signed Jackson without including Harrington at all. I figure there has to be something else included on Atlanta's side--otherwise this is just a salary dump.

I guess the Pacers just traded Brad Miller for Scott Pollard last year, though, so maybe there's not. ;)

It's a salary dump. Indy's a small market, and they're way over the cap already with max contracts for Miller and O'Neal. Artest is getting about 8 million a year as well. That's 34 million just for three guys, before you factor in the awful contract Croshere has, and the rest of the team.

This deal has to include a draft pick from Atlanta or something like that. Herrington is going to put up great numbers as a starter. The Pacers shouldn't need to do a sign and trade to get Jackson.

It does keep their MLE available for someone else, but it may be they just don't want a bigger salary structure.
