General manager James Gladstone said that he wanted to utilize free agency to help raise the floor of the Jacksonville Jaguars roster. With that came 10 free agent additions over the last week, nine of which came on the first day.

Gladstone has heavily added to the offensive line, and also addressed the secondary and tight end units with multiple additions, along with signing a backup quarterback and wide receiver help.

So now that the dust has mostly settled for the Jaguars when it comes to free agency, what are their big remaining positions of need as we start to look ahead to the NFL draft?

Dan Parr of NFL.com recently listed the top five needs for each NFL team following the free agency frenzy. Here is what he selected for the Jaguars:

  1. Defensive line
  2. Cornerback
  3. Safety
  4. Offensive line
  5. Wide receiver

It's hard to argue with this list overall. Defensive line is absolutely at the top, as it is the one big need the Jaguars had prior to free agency that still hasn't been addressed. The good news for the Jaguars is that this year's draft class is loaded at that position.

Signing Jourdan Lewis provides some stability at cornerback as he will, presumably, take over as the nickel, which allows Jarrian Jones to move to the boundary, which is where the biggest need was at cornerback. However, while Gladstone likes Jones' versatility, there should still be competition for that starting role.

The Jaguars found their starting free safety in Eric Murray, but depth is still a big need at this position. And even with all the additions along the offensive line, I don't get the sense that the Jaguars are done adding here either. Getting Trevor Lawrence and the passing game back on track begins with improved offensive line play, so any and all competition is likely going to be welcomed.

I do think you could argue that receiver could be higher on the list. While there are options on the roster when it comes to who will step into that No. 2 role behind Brian Thomas, there are also a lot of unknowns in that regard as well. So again, there's a lot of value in boosting the competition.
