The Los Angeles Rams’ fingerprints are all over the NFL. Many of the head coaches around the league spent time as position coaches or coordinators on Sean McVay’s staff in L.A., and they also have a couple of former executives who are now general managers: Brad Holmes in Detroit and James Gladstone in Jacksonville.
Teams have borrowed ideas from the Rams over the years, which is something Gladstone will certainly do as the Jaguars’ new general manager. As Les Snead’s understudy, he’s already brought one key pre-draft strategy with him to Duval County.
Gladstone said the Jaguars won’t be hosting prospects for official top-30 visits before the draft, just like the Rams.
The Rams' top talent evaluators don't attend the combine and they don't bring prospects in for visits, which is a unique approach to the draft. Every NFL team won't adopt it because other GMs and coaches find value in meeting with these prospects, but it's notable that Gladstone is already bringing something he learned in Los Angeles to his new role.
Gladstone spent nine years with the Rams from 2016-2024 before being hired by the Jaguars this offseason, learning the ins and outs of the front office from Snead. He was most recently the director of scouting strategy with the Rams, working closely with Snead and McVay to uncover talented prospects in the draft.

Gladstone: "There are other mechanisms that we tend to lean into to help us determine whether or not a player is, in fact, a fit for us more than just a singular touch point that would be a top 30 visit.” https://t.co/NDgKjT2KDI
