In the latest beat writers mock draft from The Athletic, the Jacksonville Jaguars took an NFL combine superstar with the fifth overall pick.

Each of the NFL beat writers for The Athletic put together version 2.0 of their 2025 mock draft. Once the Jaguars were on the clock, Jeff Howe opted to address the offensive line by taking Missouri tackle Armand Membou.

"You can never have enough quality offensive linemen. Just ask the Eagles," wrote Howe. "So even after adding Patrick Mekari, Robert Hainsey and Chuma Edoga in free agency, Jacksonville wisely puts another young pillar in front of franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Membou is short, by traditional thresholds, to play tackle, but he likely has the athleticism to play the position in the NFL, though he wouldn’t have to immediately."

As Howe notes, the Jaguars have addressed the offensive line heavily in free agency, which now includes adding Super Bowl champion Fred Jackson to the mix as well recently. However, I don't get the sense that continuing to add in the draft, even early on, is off limits either.

Getting Trevor Lawrence and the passing game as a whole back on track starts in the trenches by giving him time to operate within the rhythm of the play, along with having a strong run game to lean on.

For that reason, creating competition to get the most out of this group very much seems to be on GM James Gladstone's to-do list.

Membou was an NFL combine superstar. He ran a 4.91-second 40-yard dash at 6-4 - 332 pounds and tested very well on the vertical and broad jumps as well. Membou ended up posting a Relative Athletic Score of 9.82 out of 10.0.

Armand Membou is a OT prospect in the 2025 draft class. He scored an unofficial 9.82 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 26 out of 1379 OT from 1987 to 2025.

In three seasons at Missouri, Membou played nearly 2,100 offensive snaps, most of which came at right tackle. Over his career, Membou surrendered only three sacks. Over the last two years, Membou gave up just 23 total pressures in 849 pass-blocking snaps.

In this most recent season, Membou ranked 11th in PFF's pass-blocking efficiency metric among all offensive tackles, and he ranked fourth in run-blocking grade as well.

With the Jaguars having 10 draft picks this year, they have the ability to go in quite a few different directions in the draft. What Membou adds is flexibility along the offensive line. He can compete at tackle or guard, potentially push for playing time, or provide depth off the bench. He also gives the Jaguars a long-term option at guard or tackle as well.
