Nice find Gee... I never really appreciated Jake's style of play. However, I love his non-nonsense approach to life...

I love jake, I always will....even through all the boneheaded moments you couldnt help but think he was pretty much laying it down everytime he went out there.. I think he wanted to help raise the cards from the ashes just as badly as we wanted him too

Deep in his heart, he knows he's proud of this squad. Probably wishes he had a chance to play in U of P and throw to Fitz and Quan 16 games a season.

This reminds me of the interview on the radio yesterday with Frank Sanders.. He was comparing him and Rob Moore to Q and Fitz.. He was saying Q is better than him and Q has that extra something.. He has that extra swivle in hips after he catches the ball.. And how him and Moore used to secretly wish they had a QB like Warner to throw to them(they were watching Kurt in StL at the time go crazy).. But he prefaced that with a Jake compliment and saying it wasnt a diss to Jake..

Jake gave us hope when there wasn't enough talent to go around. He made an offense work with less than he needed. He made us remember Rob Moore and Frank Sanders as great receivers and he brought us a playoff win and a stadium.

I'll always be grateful to him for those things and wish him well. I was sad when he went to Denver. I knew, logically, they didn't need a quarterback to come in and make everything happen on his shoulders.

Man, I didn't remember he could have gone to the Bears. I wonder how things would have been different for him. He might have seen a Super Bowl 3 years ago. He might have gone down as the Bears "finally" having that QB. Or he might have thrown way too many picks for a great defense to overcome, and been another bum in a line of medium strength Bears' QBs.

Good luck, Jake. You should ditch the handball for the weekend though and come yell for your team. The fans would take you in as one of them, just as they cheered for you before.

Seriously..."screw you guys, I'm going home and gonna play...uh, handball. That sounds fun."

Dude has a great outlook on life. I also think the Tillman thing really forced him to examine his life and what was important to HIM.

I will always remember Jake for this game against the Eagles

That game was a week before my wedding & I was supposed to be there, but the transmission on my car blew on the drive down to Philly. Turned out that was probably for the best because had I been in the Vet and Plummer & Jenkins made that play, I would have gone nuts and some dopey Eagles fan would have probably punched me and then I probably have a shiner on my wedding day...which would not have made the wife happy at all! LOL!

Jake gave us the playoffs and a win over the Cowpies at Dallas. I will always appreciate Jake and think he should be honored at one of the games.

Popular misconception.. The defense and the turnovers got us to the playoffs.. Do you not remeber Kwamie Lassiter?

wait? Bickley is writing an article about Jake Plummer talking about how Jake had negative articles written about him when he played here?

Wait!! Bickley was the one writing most of those negative articles! The approach and timing of this article (5-10 years late) leaves a lot to be desired.

I think most Cards fans at the time were huge Plummer fans because a) the Sun Devil connection and b) we hadn't had a legit starting QB since Lomax. We all fell in love with him and thought he was the next coming of Joe Montana (can't remember who made that bold prediction) and clearly never lived up to the hype. Now you can't put all of the blame on Jake for some of this franchise's downfalls because after 98, the FO dumped most of the team. Jake peaked when he left for Denver and got that huge contract.

The overall opinion was that Jake was a good quarterback, but he was also one of the most erractic ever. I mean, who else in the league has thrown an interception with both arms?

Wasn't that the late, great Bill Walsh?

bingo! I remember the 49ers took Jim Druckenmiller out of Va Tech in the 1st round that year...Plummer could have easily been taken then

This is ridiculous revisionist history. Jake had zero turnovers in this game, where our defense gave up close to 300 yards on the ground. Our defense managed to make amends for their miserable performance with some turnovers, but if Jake had a single interception in this game we lose. Jake gets much more credit in this game than the defense or anyone else. SD had a great defense, we had almost no yards on the ground. Throw a single interception, this game is lost. This game is only one because Jake doesn't turn the ball over. I don't know how the hell he did it.

I watched this game at a bar wearing a plummer jersey in a sea of eagles fans. 2 minutes to go and I kept saying "you gave Jake too much time!" people just glared at me the whole drive and when Martay scored I went nuts! I can't believe I made it out of there in one peice.
