OK the Combine is over and free agency soon to start. Here is my draft projection of the top ten picks. It will be updated again after free agency. Have not shown any trades as that is too hard to predict.

#1 Houston - Reggie Bush RB USC
There will be talk of trading the pick but the bottom line is this is where he will go.

#2 New Orleans - Matt Leinart QB USC
He is their guy.

#3 Tennessee - Vince Young QB Texas
After all the talk of him dropping, Fisher will have confidence that Chow along with McNair's mentoring will groom him into a franchise QB. He will be a project and not rushed.

#4 New York Jets - Jay Cutler QB Vanderbilt
Jets are estatic that he is still there.

#5 Green Bay Packers - Mario Williams DE North Carolina State
May be best player in the draft.

#6 San Francisco 49ers - AJ Hawk LB Ohio State
Many needs could trade down tough to predict but could use a playmaker on defense and AJ is that.

#7 Oakland Raiders - Haloti Ngata DT Oregon
Al Davis is hard to predict. Sapp is finished and Oakland needs a run stuffer.

#8 Bufallo Bills - D'Brickashaw Ferguson OT Virgina
Bills can't believe he dropped this far. Also fills a big need.

#9 Detroit Lions - Michael Huff DB Texas
Fills Lions need for a playmaker. Best DB in the draft.

#10 Arizona Cardinals - Lendale White RB USC
Cards need a power back. Michael Bidwill wants more ticket sales and knows that fans will get excited with this pick. Will fix OL in free agency and draft in later rounds.

I could also see Vernon Davis going to the Raiders, Ngata going to the Bills, Huff to the Lions and Fergusen dropping to us.

Backus just got the franchise tag at LT and the Lions need D help.

No way Ferguson lasts to #8. Someone would move up for him. I'm not sure that the Jets would pass on him, either. Adrian Jones gave up 8 sacks last season. Scott Gragg, their RT, is 34.

The only problem with this scenario is if we fix the ol and plan on taking White, what happens if he is gone when we pick?

We would be leaving a gaping hole to chance. I want to see us sign 1 or 2 o-lineman, Jamal Lewis, and a back-up QB. Then with the #10 pick we can truly go with the BPA , be it a QB, S, CB, LB, or Lendale White.

The only teams maybe interested in White that are ahead of us are Tenn. , Jets and Green Bay. All those picks are too high for White IMO. He'll fall to us!

The only senario that would mess that up is if Denver traded their first round picks into the top 10 to grab him.

I could see the 9er's taking Davis simply because they need play makers.

Can't argue with you as Ferguson is special. Just didn't want to put any trades here as that is so hard to predict. Gut feel though is that Jets are crazy about Cutler and believe he is a franchise qb.

Denver has never drafted a rb in round one since Shanahan has been their head coach. They don't need a rb and love having two first round picks.

Could happen. They could go many different ways. 49ers is the team most likely to trade down but as I said I didn't want to predict any trades.

Anyone who suggest Ferguson will fall to #8 is insane! Ferguson is probably the best pass-protector to come out of college - EVER!

If the Jets don't take him at #4 then most likely some team may trade up to get him with the 49ers who have the #6 pick. I don't see Packers taking him at #5 with Mario Williams there.

I hope it is us. If Ferguson somehow falls out of the top 5, let us move up to grab him. Yeah, like the 49ers are going to trade the pick to us......

ugh.

Got this off the website of DraftKing.com who is just one of many draft analysts around:
2006 NFL Mock Draft
1. Houston Texans - Reggie Bush, RB, USC
2. New Orleans Saints - Matt Leinart, QB, USC
3. Tennessee Titans - Vince Young, QB, Texas
4. New York Jets - Mario Williams, DE, NC State
5. Green Bay Packers - A.J. Hawk, OLB, Ohio State
6. San Francisco 49ers - DeAngelo Williams, RB, Memphis
7. Oakland Raiders - Halogi Ngata, DT, Oregon
8. Buffalo Bills - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia
9. Detroit Lions - Tambi Hali, DE, Penn State
10. Arizona Cardinals - Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland

Hey all its still just a crapshoot and will change many times between now and draft day and still be wrong.

If the first 9 picks played out like that I'd have to take V. Davis or trade down about 5 spots. I agree with whoever said Davis could end up in Oakland, I don't think Al Davis could pass up on a TE of his athleticism. I also doubt Ferguson drops past 5 or 6, there is a good chance he goes 4 to the Texans after they trade down. I bet Ngata drops out of the top 10.

I don't see us taking another downfield weapon with our 1st Rd pick.

It just doesn't make any sense in the ball distribution.

We need, IMO, to address either line or RB in 1st RD.

I would be ecstatic if Ferguson fell to us (I bet he's in the top 5 though) or AJ HAwk or Lendale, in that order.

Both Cutler and Young can have a significant impact on the draft. If the Jets really want Cutler and take him at # 4 (if available) that causes some players like Ferguson to slide (a little )as most peg him as the Jets pick. Young needs to have a very special pro workout day else he could slide to who knows where. I also think the LenDale White needs to show some decent speed when USC has their pro workout day in early April else he might not be a top ten pick. (or the Cards pick).

How is a power-blocking TE not help for the line and the running game? Vernon Davis was blocking guys 20 yards downfield in blocking drills at the Combine. The Cards have 0 downfield weapons at this point, anyway.

Huh......blocking guys 20 yards downfield at the combine?

There is no one to block during drills at the combine.

No downfield weapons?

Our WRs are not only decent receivers, they also are very good blockers.

And as far as blocking 20 yds downfield, that does us no good when the play gets blown up at the LOS.
