Jarrod Parker will make his major league debut Tuesday vs. the Dodgers.

Pretty excited to see him pitch. Good time to give him some big league experience.

I don't have an issue with this and looking forward to seeing him pitch as well.

But, to play devil's advocate -- we are still neck and neck with the Brewers for home field advantage in the first round and every game is still important -- is this the best strategy?

A future rotation of Kennedy -- Hudson -- Parker -- Skaggs -- Bauer/Corbin still has me thinking the best is yet to come from these D-Backs!!

He is replacing Miley, so I am not sure that is much of a downgrade. If he was replacing Kennedy, Hudson or Saunders, then I think that would be more of a case.

I agree. Miley had a good chance and just wasn't that impressive overall. For one game, even while trying to catch the Brewers, hopefully it won't be a downgrade at all.

I suppose that we will use a four-man starting rotation through the playoffs and World Series. :)

Top Diamondbacks prospect Jarrod Parker was on the fast track to the big leagues before he suffered an elbow injury midway through the 2009 season. But if there's a positive to come out of Tommy John surgery, it's that he believes he's a better pitcher now than he was before.

"A lot of guys take time to get ready and become more complete," said Parker, who will start against the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday night in his major-league debut. "I felt like this year was a big year after the surgery. I just worked on becoming more of a complete pitcher versus just a hard thrower."

Man I am stoked for this tonight. Parker has the stuff to be a quality starter. He was throwing 96-97 before the surgery, IDK exactly how well he's been doing down in Mobile, his ERA isn't great but he's striking out a batter per inning lately. I'm excited to see what he's got tonight.

Judging by the quote Jon posted, I would take Parkers comments to mean he's probably throwing more like 92-94 but has improved his offspeed stuff. We'll see right? :)

Around the All-Star break Jarrod started to tinker with a two seam fastball. He now uses it more than his four seamer. The two seam acts like a sinker which has helped him induce more ground balls. He has been throwing that around 92 mph. He can still run his four seamer up around 96. In fact his two seam has been so effective he had gone 117 innings without giving up a homer.

Wow that could be an impressive combination if he can command both pitches.

Cant wait for the game. I'll be there cheerin on the rook!
