The Diamondbacks signed their top pick, Jarrod Parker (ninth overall), less than two hours before the deadline.
The right-hander out of Norwell (Ind.) High School received a $2.1 million signing bonus. The No. 9 overall pick in June's First-Year Player Draft, Parker dominated the competition in his senior season, as he went 10-0 with a 0.13 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 10 starts. "He's a high school pitcher with a lot of upside," Arizona general manager Josh Byrnes said. "He has a lot of polish, a lot of enthusiasm and character we believe in. We're glad to put him into our system."
