It appears to be pure speculation, but interesting nonetheless. Sac has a glut of big men and may make Thompson available. He averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds per game in only 29 minutes per game last year. He would be the legitimate power forward that we sorely need. I could see him having a breakout year playing with Nash, putting up 18 and 10 seems realistic.

I'm not sure if we have anything that Sac wants outside of Dragic, since they are set at positions 3-5. I'd give them pick of anybody not named Nash, Dragic, or Lopez. I guess Dudley works numbers wise, but we'd probably have to include a pick as well. Dudley, Clark, and a lotto protected first? I'd hate to lose Dudley, but for a legit 4, you'd have to pull the trigger.

If we were somehow able to cut a deal, we'd have to move Hill to the bench and slide Hedo to the three.

Nash, Dragic
Richardson, Childress
Hedo, Hill
Thompson, Warrick
Lopez, Frye

All of a sudden, the team is looking pretty balanced.

Thompson isn't that great, but I wouldn't mind acquiring him. I'd seriously think about Dudley for Thompson straight up, but not sure if I'd do Dudley and a 1st rounder for him. Definitely a 2nd rounder though.

The only other move that would work is Earl Clark for him straight up as well--but there's no way Sacramento would want him. Dudley, Clark and a protected 1st would mean that Sacramento would have to add more to their side.

EDIT: Actually, we have a trade exception left from Amare leaving, so technically we could pick him up for nothing. But Sacramento is already 14m under the cap and I doubt they'd want to give him up for just cap space.

He may not be a superstar, but 9 boards a game is looking pretty good right about now. I forgot about the TE; Maybe we could pull a 3-way where another team looking for cap space would take the TE and send something Sactown's way.

This is the type of move PHX needs to explore. Young, cheap talent at a position we need. I am for trading anyone on the roster except Lopez and our 1st rounder, I would even be to deal either Dudley or Dragic due to it being easier to find another PG or SF in the draft.

Earl Clark is now completely expendable (plus a pick or something).

Thompson and Greene are just wasting away on the bench, would love to get both but I don't know if PHX would be willing to give up either Dudley or Dragic to get them.

Holy crap! Overseascardsfan's last post inspired me to go look up Thompson's player page:

http://espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3462

Get him! Get him NOW! He gets 15 minutes a game. Send Dudley and Clark to thin out our 3 depth, let Hill and Hedo run the 3, put Thompson at 4 backed up by Warrick and we instantly have a more complete and competitive team!

Yeah I've liked him for two years and now seems to be the time to get him. Would hate to lose Dudley but it seems to make the most sense.

I actually think Duds was re-signed to help facilitate such a deal.

But Dudley has some sort of a poison pill in his new contract.

JT got a nice midrange game but is Super soft. Kings are playing him off the bench as a three.

No the Kings are playing him as a 3 cause they want him to get playing time and SF is the only position where they can use minutes.

I have watched Thompson play ever since he came into the league. He's had to play center for them last year.

Soft is probably the antonym of the words to describe him.

Well the Kings just moved Jason Thompson back into the starting lineup @ PF & moved Carl Landry to the bench so that should make it harder to pursue this... unless they're trying to showcase him for a trade.
