Jasper Brinkley was a little better than I thought he'd be. Was physical, tackled hard and was a pretty good chaser---but was still a little limited athletically. I wish him well on his next team.

He was a Door Number 2 option who was called when Door Number I (Rey Maualaga) was trying to make up his mind.

I wasn't a big fan of the signing last year, but wish the guy the best. There was certainly a log jam at the position, and this helps it a bit.

Hope this also means Los is closing to re-signing and good luck Brinkley.

I think it means that they have a plan in place. Could mean Dansby is close. Dockett tweeted today that he thinks Dansby will be back.

ok i said in terms of his salary next year..or he will accept a paycut or he is out for sure

There is a salary problem but I hope they fix it. I highly doubt 90 wants to play anywhereelse. If both sides can be reasonable I see no reason for him to leave yet

He was one of the top 6 players on our free agent board last year. Good times.

It's good to see that Steve Keim is carrying on the proud tradition of Rod Graves of having almost immediate buyer's remorse, particularly when it comes to linebackers.

i think is the last year for dockett in this franchise

I say your wrong, I say of all the players on the team who are high profile that Dockett is the most likely to take a reasonable contract... he is very loyal to the Cardinals and the Noles and talks about it often

We could be adding Bell, Cason, Alexander, Winston and Mendenhall to that list.

March is really going to be interesting.

Is that worse than not admitting your mistake by keeping him?

Eh... All of those guys were one-year deals, and I'll expect to see a lot more of them from teams all over the NFL in the future (at least, the near future). As much as Mao doesn't want to examine it, Keim offered, what?, two or three 2013 free agent targets (the guys on his "board") multi-year deals--Powers, Brinkley, Johnson, and...?

One of them is off the roster less than 12 months later. Sure, it happens with a lot of teams, and we didn't have much guaranteed money invested in Brinkley (his dead money is only $200k). But I think the expectation is that we're better than a lot of teams.

The difference between RG parting ways with a FA pick up and Keim parting ways with one is that when Keim releases one we have a 200k cap hit and a net savings of 2mil on the cap. When RG released one we were net negative on the cap enough to hand cuff us that offseason.

Rod Graves would have never signed Dansby, Abraham and Winston. things changed...that doesn't mean that every single decision is gold.

Since 4/5 of those are free agents, that won't be the case.

K9's assertion that this is more of the same is nothing but nonsense and a bad attempt at trolling.

No Bradley, Johnson, Starks, Heap... etc huge misses this past year.

Brinkley and Cason didn't get much PT but that's because other FA's played much better. When they were on the field they were more than solid.

Mendy was okayish, Winston was solidish, Powers was good, Abe & Los were home runs. Did I miss any that weren't in season pick ups?

I give SK an A for the past FA period.

TJ, I agree with you. K-9 is just trolling.

Don't have a problem with Brinkley being released after one year. Some FA signings work out some don't, no big deal. More concerned that Minter couldn't get past this guy on the depth chart. Hopefully it was just rookie inexperience and he will be up to the task this year.
