Playing without superstar Jayson Tatum in Game 2 against the Orlando Magic, the Boston Celtics answered the physicality of Orlando, with a tough, fought out victory. Although Boston never got their lead to a wide gap, they withstood every run by the Magic and closed out the win with a 109-100 victory to take a 2-0 series lead in the first round of the playoffs.

Jayson Tatum was ruled out for the game with a right wrist injury he suffered in Game 1 after taking a hard foul, and the Magic did not let up in their physical play in Game 2. Kristaps Porzingis was on the receiving end of a big elbow from Goga Bitadze that opened a gash on his head, but the Celtics delivered their own big blows as they took a commanding lead in the series.

Here's a quick recap of the Game 2 victory:

Keys to the game:

Jaylen Brown stepped up with no Tatum: Jaylen Brown has been battling a bone bruise on his knee through the end of the regular season and beginning of the playoffs, but he came up big when needed. Stepping up with no Tatum available to the Celtics on Wednesday, Brown finished the game with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, showing the play that made him the NBA Finals MVP last year.

Answered the physicality: While Orlando was busy delivering hard fouls and trying to enforce their will, the Celtics took advantage throughout the game. They got to the free throw line more than Orlando, getting 32 attempts to the Magic's 24, and also outrebounded Orlando with a 46-34 advantage on the night. The Magic have shown they're going to bring a bunch of physical play to this series, but as the Celtics flexed their championship muscle, they didn't lose focus, and didn't get out of their game.

Boston heads on the road for the first time this series, going into Orlando with a 2-0 lead and looking to keep their foot on the gas. There's no word if Jayson Tatum will return on Friday after missing the first playoff game of his career, but if he does miss the game, there is hope that other players will continue to step up in his absence. Orlando has been physical all series, but the Celtics have withstood their biggest runs and biggest physical shots, and they can really get the series in their full control with a victory on Friday night in enemy territory.
