Jazz sign Boozer to offer sheet: report
July 9, 2004
BRISTOL, United States (AFP) - The Utah Jazz and unrestricted free agent centre Carlos Boozer have reportedly agreed on a six-year, 68 million dollar offer sheet.
Boozer apparently has spurned the Cleveland Cavaliers , who according to an ESPN report, made Boozer a free agent with the belief he would re-sign with them for their mid-level exemption.
Recently named to the United States Olympic team, Boozer could have re-signed with the Cavaliers for 695,000 dollars next season had they not made him a free agent. Cleveland does have the right to match Utah's offer.
Last season, Boozer averaged 15.5 points and 11.7 rebounds per game.
Earlier this week, the Jazz agreed to terms on an offer sheet with Pistons free agent forward Mehmet Okur.
Utah also has re-signed last season's starting backcourt tandem of Gordan Giricek and Carlos Arroyo.
