Sporting News/War Room has Jerome McDougle rated as the #2 DE behind Suggs.Listed at 6`2 264.Rated round one pick.If the Cards really go for him as a pass rusher would this be too much of a reach at #6?

Yes he would be a big time reach.

He is not a "great" player, and at #6 in the draft a team is supposed to get a "great" player. If we traded down to 10 or 15 that's more like the area, but where we stand now we shouldn't even consider McDougle.

impact pick at #6

Who of the probable players available at #6 will be a impact player?
1.Cincy-Carson Palmer QB
2.Det-Rogers Wr
3.Htn-Terrell Suggs DE
4,Chicago-Leftwich QB
5.Dallas-Terrence Newman CB
6.AZ ?

Dewayne Robertson DT-- solid DT who is excellent run stuffer.Cards have several DT`s on the roster who are supposed to be run stuffers;Barron Tanner,Nate Dwyer

Andre Johnson WR-War Room says he reminds them of David Boston,Size and speed.Inconsistent hands.

DE-Jerome McDougle-2nd best pass rushing DE.Reach at #6.

QB-Rex Grossman or Kyle Boller QB -both could be 1st rounders, would be reaches at #6.

DT-William Joseph-Same type player as Bryant

Jordan Gross OT- not area of major need this year.
Kwame Harris OT-ditto

Who fits the bill at #6?

Is Robertson better than Kennedy because thats what I've been hearing on this board.

I always thought Kennedy was rated higher.

I now think that Houston won't take Suggs. They were planning to use him more as an OLB than a DE. No one would be more scared off by his workout than the Texans. So, I think they will take Johnson. I agree with the rest of your top 5, except would Dallas take Suggs or Newman? That's a tough call. Either way, I think we get one of those two. However, if it goes down like this, then I say take the best deal and trade down. I'm not excited by any of those players you listed at #6.

I think Kennedy and Robertson are running neck and neck with each other.

The different sites that I've seen have the same 9 players as the "Elite" and almost all of them have CB Trufant as the 10th player, but not is the same catagory as the nine. Here's how The War Room ranks them:

1 Carson Palmer, USC QB
2 Charles Rogers, Michigan St. WR
3 Terrell Suggs, Arizona St. DE
4 Jimmy Kennedy, Penn State DT
5 Dewayne Robertson, Kentucky DT
6 Terence Newman, Kansas St. CB
7 Byron Leftwich, Marshall QB
8 Jordan Gross, Utah T
9 Andre Johnson, Miami (FL) WR

Most projections that I've heard lately have Robertson as the top tackle. He is faster, stronger, and has more upside.

Here are the guys at the top that IMO will be impact players:

1. Suggs. The only true top ten pick DE. McDougal isn't even close imo. A pass rushing force to be reckoned with in the future.

2. Newman/Trufant. Both are fast, but have different qualities. Trufant is bigger, and a better "technique" corner, while Newman is more physically gifted (but not much more).

3. Robertson. He has been called "baby" Sapp, but that is misleading since he is bigger than Sapp. He had 5 sacks last year, while taking on constant double teams. He has run around 4.75 at times, around what Bryant was running last year, but he is stronger than Bryant.

4. Charles Rogers/Andre Johnson. Big, fast targets, who should be very good NFL wide receivers. Rogers is more of a refined receiver, while Johnson is the better athlete with more upside.

Now my order of priority:
1. Suggs. We need a pass rush, and he could be a dominant pass rush force.

2. Robertson. Better than Kennedy imo, because not only will he help stop the run, but he could be a very good pass rushing tackle. More of a complete package.

3. Andre Johnson. He is only this high because of need. We need a receiver more than we do a corner. He is very green, but he would give us a talent infusion to our receiving corp.

4. Trufant. Personally, I don't want Newman and his 5'10 heighth and his Deion Sanders bravado. I want substance, and Trufant is the guy.

5. TRADE DOWN! If we were to trade down with the Jets, we could pick Boss Bailey (A guy I would love to have) and Chris Kelsay (A KVB-like end with more speed).

If Suggs and Leftwich are gone at 6 I would love to take Trufant. Does anyone believe the hype that we would pass on Leftwich at 6 for Newman? I personaly do not.

[/QUOTE

if we traded our number one for the jets two number ones i think we could pick up a good defender (boss bailey or anyone else) at thirteen and then we could probably get kelley washington with their second first round selection.

Not to nit pick, but I think the DT they call "baby sapp" is the kid from Miami that had both his parents pass away. Unless I missed something and Robertson also is being called that.
