The start of the NFL season is still several months away, but that is not stopping many members of the Seattle Seahawks from getting a head start on the 2025 campaign. The team is starting their voluntary offseason workout program next and already there are plenty of players already making their way back to the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton, WA.
If you took an AP course in high school, this likely feels similar to showing up to class a few days before the rest of your friends started during the year.
The "big" news to report at this time is the official designation of jersey numbers for all the free agents the Seahawks signed this offseason. Some of the names we already knew, such as Sam Darnold choosing to stick with No. 14 - previously worn by DK Metcalf, and made available by his departure to Pittsburgh - and Cooper Kupp wearing No. 10 after agreeing to swap with linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, who will wear lucky No. 7.
Now we know the rest of the jersey number assignments for the rest of the 2025 free agent class, and there are some notable changes. DeMarcus Lawrence is moving to No. 0 for the first time in his career. Additionally, backup quarterbacks Sam Howell and Drew Lock are making somewhat of a "switch." Howell swapped his No. 6 jersey for No. 2, which is what Lock wore when he was Seattle's primary backup. Now Lock is moving to No. 6 which of course has just been made available as previously mentioned!
The full list of new jersey assignments can be seen in the tweet below:
