New Jets quarterback Justin Fields is not letting the New York media get to him.
On Wednesday, Fields had to answer a question about how he'd respond to "Gang Green" drafting a young quarterback in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft a month after signing him to a two-year deal.
"I don't really like to answer rhetorical questions," Fields said. "I'm willing to teach, but yeah I don't – I'm not really interested in rhetorical questions."
In March, the Jets signed Fields to a two-year, $40 million contract with $30 million guaranteed. A couple of weeks later, new Jets general manager Darren Mougey announced the former first-round pick would be the team's starting quarterback for the 2025 season.

Fields, who began his career with the Chicago Bears, spent the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he split starter duties with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson.
Fields started the first six games of the season, leading Pittsburgh to a 4-2 start before Wilson returned from a calf injury. Once the veteran was healthy, he took over the starting duties for the remainder of the year.
Fields finished the 2024 season with a career-best 65.8% completion rate, 1,106 passing yards, five touchdowns and one interception.
New York has three other quarterbacks on its roster ahead of the 2025 draft: veteran journeyman Tyrod Taylor, 2024 fifth-round pick Jordan Travis and 2024 UFL MVP Adrian Martinez.

The Jets currently own the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. They also own all of their picks between Rounds 2-6, along with an additional fifth-round pick from the Rams and an extra sixth-round pick from the Chiefs.
Mougey last served as the Broncos' assistant general manager and was part of the regime that drafted quarterback Bo Nix last year. Head coach Aaron Glenn also brought over former Lions passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand to serve as the team's new offensive coordinator.
If the Jets don't feel like Fields is a long-term answer and want to draft a quarterback, they have both the draft position and coaching infrastructure to do so.
