The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been known to trade back in the NFL Draft over the years. General manager Jason Licht likes to accumulate the extra picks, which gives him flexibility with the draft board. However, what if the Bucs made the bold move of trading up?
Dalbin Osario of Badlands suggested the Jets attempt to make a bold move and trade out of the top ten in the NFL Draft. The suggested trade partner? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The proposed trade would have the Bucs sending the 18th, 53rd, and 121st overall picks of the 2025 NFL Draft and a 2026 second-round pick to the Jets for the 7th overall pick. While we won't be discussing the Jets angle of this, it is interesting to think who the Bucs could take if they jumped into the seventh overall pick.
They would be in range for the likes of Mike Green or James Pearce Jr. if they want to take a pass rusher. They would easily land either Jihaad Campbell or Jalon Walker if they favor a linebacker. Or, they could go to the secondary and land the likes of Will Johnson, who could be a new top cornerback for Todd Bowles's defense.
While it is unlikely to happen, it is a fun exercise to explore.
