Mar. 21—DICKINSON, N.D. — The University of Jamestown baseball team had a big performance on the mound to help them get a 4-2 win over Mayville State University on Friday, March 21, at Dickinson State's Dakota Community Bank and Trust Ballpark.
The Jimmies did not waste any time in this one, with the first three hitters all reaching before Jordan Singleton hit a two-run double to give the visitors the 2-0 lead. The score stayed that way until the second when the Comets scored an unearned run to bring it to within one run at 2-1.
The Jimmies pushed their lead out to 4-1 in the sixth inning on two hits and one error. The Comets responded in the bottom of the sixth with a solo shot to bring it closer once again at 4-2. The Comets had a chance to bring it closer in the bottom of the seventh when Carson Lundmark rocketed one to left field but the Jimmies' Julian Romero was able to leap up and snag it to end the game.

The Jimmies could not overcome a poor sixth inning in a 6-2 loss to Dickinson State University in the second game of the North Star Athletic Association Inivite.
The Jimmies (17-7) got off to another quick start in the second game, with two runs in the bottom of the first thanks to a Ryan Muizelaar two-run shot to go up 2-0. The Blue Hawks (7-16) got one back in the third to bring it to within one run at 2-1. The Blue Hawks blew the game open in the sixth inning when they tied the game up at two on a wild pitch. They kept pushing in the frame and added three more runs to take a 5-2 lead.
The Blue Hawks put the game away with an unearned run in the seventh to take the four run lead.
The Jimmies' Muizelaar led the way going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run. On the mound, the Jimmies' Luke Zimmer went 5.1 giving three runs on four hits, while striking out eight hitters and walking two batters. The Blue Hawks' Cooper Van Luchene went 4.0 innings giving up two runs on four hits while striking out two and walking one.
The Jimmies are back in action at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, when they take on Valley City State.
