Mar. 14—GREAT FALLS, Mont. — The No. 13-seeded University of Jamestown women's basketball struggled to slow down a potent Georgetown University (Kentucky) offense and it cost them in a 93-62 loss in the first round of the 2025 NAIA women's basketball national tournament on Friday, March 14, at Providence College's McLaughlin Center Gymnasium.

The beginning of the first quarter was tight with the Jimmies (19-11) taking a 4-2 lead early and the largest lead that either team had in the first five minutes being an 11-9 lead for the Tigers. The No. 4-seeded Tigers started to pull away midway through the quarter when they took a 25-15 lead before the Jimmies hit a basket to send the game to the second with the score sitting at 25-18.

Early in the second, the Jimmies' Sam Paulsen hit a three to bring it closer at 30-21 before the Tigers (21-8) responded with a layup to make it 32-21 and they pushed the lead to 40-23 and then took a 60-33 lead into the half.

The Tigers could not miss in the first half shooting 64.9% from the field, 8-for-12 from three and 4-for-5 from the free throw line. The Jimmies were shooting 35.3% from the field, 4-for-13 from three and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. The Tigers won the rebounding battle convincingly, grabbing 23 boards while the Jimmies grabbed 12. Both teams did a good job taking care of the ball in the opening half with the Jimmies giving it away four times and the Tigers giving it away three times. The Tigers scored six points off the Jimmies' giveaways while the Jimmies scored two points off the Tigers' giveaways.

The Jimmies did their best to fight back into the game in the third quarter, forcing a turnover on the first possession of the frame and going on a run to trim the deficit to 62-39. The Tigers responded with a three to push the lead out to 65-39 and they were able to push it out to 76-48 late. The Jimmies were able to get some momentum heading into the final quarter though when Jailyn Martinson hit a runner to bring it closer at 76-50.

The Jimmies scored the first two points of the fourth quarter to bring it closer at 76-52 but the Tigers responded with a three to push their lead out even further at 79-52 and they kept it up to get the win.

The Jimmies finished the game shooting 36.7% from the field, 6-for-22 from three and 12-for-14 from the free throw line. The Tigers shot 58.7% from the field, 12-for-23 from three and 7-for-11 from the free throw line. The Jimmies attacked the boards better in the second half than they did in the first half, finishing the game with 27 boards compared to the Tigers' 38.
