I bet if the Steelers were a good team he would go play 1 season with his brothers.

He wanted to leave a bad Texans franchise and go compete for a Super Bowl, we ruined that dream real quickly.

All kudos to JJ for a fantastic man who’s had a fantastic career, and now with his beautiful family walks proudly out of the game head held high…
Enjoy your justly earned retirement J.J you will be missed

Did he really?

Or he just went where he got offered the most money(which was/is smart)?

Not like we were perennial playoff contenders before we got him.
No, reports are that he took less money to come to AZ for some reason.

On a side not. His retirement is reason #99 to let Klownsbury & Blowseph go & not return. Imo JJ & Budda willed this team to not quit & held this team together mentally despite the injuries & all the other bs that happened that generally fractures a locker room. These 2 guys wouldn’t let it happen.

None. He was a pending free agent and he'll actually have dead money for 2023 already. Sad!
Keim Time!

Another gaping hole in our roster for 2023 as well. What an an absolute clown show this organization is. Basically an infomercial on what not to do when running a football team over last two years. Good news though - we are promoting two guys who played a part in all of it!

Now on a selfish Cardinal note, how much cap space does that free to help secure a guy like Zach Allen or Murphy

I don't know why men on this board can't google **** for themselves but sure your time is more valuable than others.

What happens to cap hit when NFL player retires?

If a player is released, traded or retires, the remaining cap hit is pushed up to the next season. If Rodgers decided to call it quits after just one year, the Packers would take a hit of $30 million the very next season.

I was thinking the other day he had at least 2 good years left in him based on his play this season.

Good for him to go out on his own terms.

Makes Zach Allen a priority free agent for us--he always should have been but with no chance of JJ coming back he has to be #1 among our free agents this year.
Even keeping Allen means filling a huge hole in Watt. The Keim way!

The problem with the DL was absolutely, 100% clear coming into this season. Keim did nothing about it, relying on Leki Fotu and Rashard Lawrence (the latter of whom I like) to provide rotational depth.

Leki has been a replacement level player and Lawrence has only appeared in 5 games. With Watt gone and if Allen leaves as a free agent, those are the only guys under contract in 2023.

Criminal.

Offensive line is basically in the same position. Just no interest at all in building either side of the line, as all good GMs do!

lmao

Speechless how Keim has ran this roster into the ground.

Guy has no clue how to properly construct a team & Bidwill let him do it for 10 seasons.
