Graves can rectify the situation in the draft by selecting Leftwich at all costs. we will have to wait and see.....

Not to be an ass but how does drafting an unproven college QB rectify anything? Especially losing Boston with nothing to show for it?
How in any way shape or form does that make all the doom and gloom you are portraying any better?
Could you name a better man for Marcel Shipp to work with?
If he was slowing down, he’d still be in the top 10%.

I'd like to focus on this, because I've seen it several times and it's flat out ridiculous. The idea of a older running back grooming a younger running back is just absurd. For the record, running backs aren't groomed in the NFL. It's the one position (possibly DL as well) that you don't have to wait to put a youngster in. That's why almost every single 1st round draft pick at the position in already penciled in as a starter during their rookie year. No tutors.
Now, that's not to say that working w/ someone like Smith wouldn't be a benefit to Shipp, but being a backup to him certainly is not. There's only one way a running back learns how to play. And that way is.........by playing. I talked at length about this w/ a former NFL running back a couple weeks back and his conclusions were identical to my own. You learn by playing. Emmitt, of all people, should know. After all, he started 15 of 16 games during his rookie season and had his first 1,000 yard season during his 2nd year. Shipp is entering his 3rd NFL year and will probably have to wait until at least year 4 to get the carries that mentor Emmitt got in year 1.
And I've heard the other stuff about Emmitt's work ethic rubbing off on Shipp among others. But what type of work ethic do you think a 5'11" former rookie free agent out of Massachusetts has?
There are no words that describe how nonsensical this notion is. Since there are 32 teams in the NFL (each presumably w/ a starter at RB), Emmitt would have to be among the top 3 to 4 RBs in the league to be considered top 10%. The last time Emmitt finished in the top 3-4 in the NFL in rushing was 1995. And for those who blame Dallas for Smith’s top 10% drought, wasn’t it the Cowboys who had the league’s 3rd ranked rushing attack in 2001? Smith wasn’t top 10 % that year. He wasn’t even in the top 40%.
