Long time Phoenician!
I've always considered batting averages grouped as:
.300 and over (we have one)
.240 to .299 (we have seven--5 starters, plus Owings)
.200 to .239 (we have five, including three starters)
under .200 (we have one)
One starter is over .300. Five are from .240 to .299. And three are from .200 to .239. (That's nine starters, with the 1B/3B indecision.)
1. C Jackson .307
2. O Hudson .298
3. A Ojeda .291
4. S Drew .255
5. M Owings .250
6. M Reynolds .250
7. M Montero .247
8. C Snyder .247
9. J Upton .240
10. C Tracy .234
11. C Young .230
12. A Romero .229
13. J Salazar .211
14. E Byrnes .210
15. R Hammock .182
16. C Burke .168
Job opportunity. Major League batting coach. We don't even have to advertise it. We have a candidate . . . buried on the bench as Bob Melvin's administrative assistant -- Kirk Gibson.
How long will this misuse of management people go on?
