Just reported here in Cleveland. Looks like 70 million for Peterson
IMO. They should go ahead and get the deal done before this gets any more expensive. Cut your loses.
The guy is a special talent and you want him to be the face of the franchise going forward anyways.
Having said that, I don't know the cap ramifications so....
This. Is he worth the money? No. But he's also not worth losing. He's a top CB in the league and he's young. I just hope he doesn't want a new contract every 2 years.
Be ready to pay Peterson around 13 mil/year. If I was the Cards, I would probably target a 4 year extension if we offer it in the next league year. Peterson would be 24 and he the extension would keep him until he was 29. If he still has it, we could franchise him that last year and he would be 30. If someone wants to outbid us at that time, let them.
Cleveland is dumb because their contract is set to expire when Haden is 31 though I guess it depends how it is structured. 45mil is a bunch to spread out without significant guaranteed money in the back end.
Haden doesn't rely on athleticism like PP does. He's strong and has great technique.
Ridiculous amount of money but I think Cleveland made the right decision.
Why, they will just cut him or trade him before the next offseason and sign Antonio Cromartie for too much money.
I think the reason the Browns are so secretive is they are just dumb from ownership on down. That's okay, there should be an NFL franchise to employ the mentally-challenged so they all go to one place.
How can you not draft a wide receiver knowing that Gordon is likely gone for the year? Dumb!
They did fleece Indy out of a first-round pick though so I guess they aren't totally incompetent.
