From what he said in the paper this morning it seems they are hanging their hat on the wrong guy. If they expect Danny Bautista to all of a sudden get hot and consistently produce again, they have some stinking thinking IMO. If Danny is "a key" were in alot of trouble.

"Right fielder Danny Bautista, whom General Manager Joe Garagiola Jr. said "is very much a key to how the last couple months are going to go,"

I know this team is financially strapped and can't take on anymore payroll but, this season hangs in the balance and it is painfully obvious that we need another run producer. Our offense is to inconsistent to make a strong push for the postseason. Joe did say they have a "narrow focus" concerning trades before the deadline, whatever that means.

As much as i'd like this team to after Brian Giles, I don't see any way they can take on his salary. The Pirates want to package Giles with Kendall and the stupid Padres are the only team that has shown any interest at all. Kendall is owed about 60 gazillion dollars for the next 5 years. I think the only kind of guys that we can afford are the Reggie Sanders type that wouldn't be an upgrade over what we have.

Who would give up Giles to get Bautista?

I mean, I guess if the Pirates are looking to dump salary, AKA Aramis Ramirez, then I guess I can see it.
