Joe Kennedy is claimed off waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Pitcher Joe Kennedy was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Kennedy, who pitched for the Athletics on Thursday night, was 3-9 with a 4.37 ERA with Oakland. The left-hander began the year in the starting rotation but each of his last 10 outings were in relief.

Well I don't know much about him since I don't really follow the AL, but it seems like another insurance policy type move, it certainly can't hurt.

Also, he's a lefty, and since the Snakes only have Slaten as a lefty in the pen, I'd assume they are planning on using Kennedy out of the pen.

Maybe he'll put up better numbers moving to the NL? These are minor signings, but maybe they'll surprise...

Wasn't Joe Kennedy with the Angels? I guess they are replacing Johnson and someone else maybe Livan who could be a waiver wire trade with the signings of Kim & Kennedy.

I hope they can acquire a bat if they are preparing a deal for Livan. Aren't CHW/NYY/NYM/ATL looking for SP?

Possibly, but doubtful. Although losing the DH, Oakland is an extreme pitcher's park while Chase is the opposite. I like these moves, lose nothing and try to catch lightning in a bottle. Better than giving up assets for the likes of Matt Moriss or Kyle Lohse.
