two interesting media notes:

1. Jurecki last week openly noted that Brown will not be back (hardly a shock) and noted "both sides are unhappy with the other"

2. Cardinal pre-game - I think it was Calvisi who stated rather matter of factly: John Brown is gone in the offseason -- "he gets no seperation, and just cant be counted on".

Found it interesting that the media now talks of Brown in the past tense -- which tells me Cards officials are doing the same.

I really wonder what happened here. There has to be more to it that what has been stated. Lots of players play with the sickle cell trait. So curious.

Really disapointing/sad to see J Browns fall so quickly. He was needed badly this year. His best game was the Atlanta pre season game.

What a shame. The guy has looked miserable for some time now. Loved the spark he gave this team at one time.

If I recall correctly, BA kind of trash talked about him and his recovery/availability. At the time I thought it was kind of snarky...but BA sometimes is.

Unfortunate that it happened to JB but it is obvious that he has to go. He gave us some really great moments when he was healthy. Too bad that wasn't a longer period of time.

I wish the best of luck to him wherever he ends up.

One year wonder and a big disappointment since then. Upgrading wide receiver is an obvious off-season priority.

JB probably thinks his 1 year of performance should grant him a pass of sorts, esp when BA was saying he needed to be practicing.

Yikes. If he leaves in the offseason, Fitz, Jaron Brown, and J.J Nelson are our top 3. That's... not a good set of receivers.

Really unfortunate situation for both the Cardinals and John Brown. I always thought Arians was too harsh on him, calling him out like he did something wrong. It's not like John Brown has chosen to have the sickle cell condition. Unlike JJ Nelson, who is better used as a gimmick player than full-time WR, John Brown had the speed and quickness along with solid hands and knack for the big play to be a legit top WR in the NFL. In his big year he ran his routes so crisp that he remined me a bit of Antonio Brown. Unfortunately he is on the small side, and if he can't bring his speed to the field, he is totally useless.

Wish him good luck wherever he ends up!

Its unfortunate because the guy was money. health issues and injuries have hampered him ever since.

I still don't fault Arians honesty. Smoke needs to practice and Smoke needs to play. He isn't doing that. And when he has played lately, he has dropped the ball or isn't running at the same speed he once did.

Use to be "Smokey" now he is just John Brown. Plenty of John Brown's in the league that are available come game day.

If JB indeed is not worth keeping, he should be cut now and another wide receiver brought in.
If they keep Brown until the end of the year and someone else signs him in free agency, the Cardinals could get a compensatory pick - or at least, his signing by another team could cancel out the Cardinals' signing of another player in the compensatory pick formula.

If he's not ready to play this week, it would make more sense to put him on I.R. and then bring in another receiver (or, presumably, elevate Alonzo Russel from the practice squad).

I think you are allowed a limit on compensatory picks... I believe the Cards are maxed out

It would be for the 2019 draft, if Brown goes elsewhere in 2018 (and if his contract qualifies, and the formula works out).

yeah....the only reason he is still on the roster at this point I think

I thought Brown would become a TY Hilton type player. Too bad it hasn't come to fruition. He was a big difference maker his rookie year and the Cards have sorely missed that since he became sick/injured all the time.
