Yes, Skelton has some rough edges but he is clearly better than Kolb. If you can't see that then you deserve crap like Anderson, Hall, and Kolb.

In reality, Vick could have thrown four picks today.:D

Taking a late 18 yard sack while in field goal range in Washington, making a mind bogglingly stupid read against Seattle, while in FG range on the final drive. Getting 10 yards passing during the 2nd half against the Ravens in a game the defense gift wrapped for us and a similar outcome in the Giants game.

I honestly think they would have at least 2 more wins, maybe 3, if not for Kolb's complete inabilty to execute in the clutch.

Don't forget the egg that he left in Minneapolis.

There's really no reason to criticize Skelton, he's our backup. If Kolb brought us from behind in the 4th quarter to wrap the game up...

I agree with what you're saying. I just don't think either QB have enough skills to get the Cards to their goal...a SUPER BOWL.
Don't disagree... but Skelton has some really intriguing aspects to him and I would really like to see him get more opportunities to see if he overcomes some of his shortcomings

I guess at this point it really comes down to who has fewer negatives.

This is Skelton's first 300+ yard game. Three long drives, something even Warner had trouble with.
A 300 yard game Q B will provide wins if he has any defensive help at all.

I posted this in the gameday thread, but I'll re-post here. I really believe there's going to be a lot of pissed off people when Kolb is healthy..

I think they both need a ton of development before either can be a guy who can lead this team where we all really want them to go. So the question then becomes who do you develop - the guy you invested heavily in with both compensation and pay or the 5th round pick? I think Skelton has a ton of upside and would not have been upset had we gone after a Hasslebeck/Bulger type if the rationale was that we really wanted to develop him for the long-term. But, that's not what we did, and I just don't see the team giving up on Kolb's development this early. I think he'll get the rest of this season, a full training camp, and many games next year until it is clear he is not the guy.

The Kolb vs. Skelton debate is going to be a fun debate for the fans, but I'd be shocked if the team is even going to have that debate internally.

Watch Rodgers, Manning, Brees or any other top QB. Nothing even close. Think Byron Leftwich & thats the same knock on him, though it's not as bad. Go back & watch his throws.

That's just flat out wrong. I've watched numerous video on this guy & his release is very good. Btw, Brees winds up when he throws the ball, almost like Fran Tarkenton did. The only knock I have with Skelton is with his accuracy on short slants, but his touch for a big man is outstanding. The thing I love is that there's no moment that's too big for him. His feet are planted firmly & he can float it or laser it.

I agree but it is hard to ignore the fact that 9 games into the season your backup qd has twice as many wins in 1/3 the starts as your starter

The sports science thing doesnt agree with 1 and 2.

You are absolutely correct. On Draft Day, 2010 ESPN had a sports science 10 minute segment featuring Skelton as the qb in the draft with the most accurate and fastest delivery. They said it was as good as many of the better pro qbs. I remember seeing this.

People's expectations for Skelton are high. Who was the better quarterback today. We saw Bradford last week - a first round draft choice - and he was no better than Skelton. The key question is whether he has the tools necessary for success. I think he has shown that he does. Yet people expect him to play like an All Pro QB in his second year with fewer games played than Kolb

Exactly, Paso Fino. Skelton was playing in his third road start today and he delivered in the clutch...3 of his 4 wins (4-2) have been 4th quarter comebacks...plus: his FG kicker missed twice and the o-line protection schemes were awful...and yet, despite that and his own two bad mistakes, he prevails when it matters most.

Skelton is ten times more poised in the pocket than Kolb. That's terrifying for Kolb.

I'd take Skelton over Kolb everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.

That said, when Kolb is healthy he's the guy the Cards will go with based on monetary investment...and it's a real shame.

Skelton looks great compared to Kolb. This is a completely different offense with Skelton in there.

CT---it looks like a completely different TEAM with Skelton in there. This TEAM beat up on the Eagles in Philly today---they put a physical beating on them! CARDINAL TOUGH BABY!

Great win by the team today.

Skelton is frustrating because for every really nice play he makes, he makes a play that is terrible. He seems to bounce back well, which is the trait I like most about him. I'm not sure that he is the guy, and I still think that you have to go back to Kolb when he is 100% healthy. Skelton is obviously more comfortable in the offense that Skelton, but I just don't see a good enough reason to give up on the QB that we have invested so much in. This will be a hard decision for the Cards coaching staff.
